REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES: Payment in full is necessar y at the time of r egistr ation to hold your spot in any class. You may send
your check in the mail (please include phone number), stop in to pay or call with a credit card. No class fee can be switched or refunded later than
one week before the start of class or two weeks before the start of Camp.
If sufficient enrollment is not met for a class, the class will be cancelled and your fee will be refunded.
HAND QUILTING & APPLIQUE CLASSES
Eight-session hand classes run

Beginning Hand Quilting
With Kathy
$60 + supplies/ eight sessions
This class will take students from the basics of how to
choose fabrics through how to bind a finished quilt. Time
will be spent on piecing, appliqué and the quilting stitch
while working on five small projects. Perfect for the beginner or those who have done some quilting but would like to
sharpen their skills. Text Required: Super Quilter II.
Advanced Hand Quilting
With Kathy
$60 + supplies /eight sessions
This class is designed to build on techniques learned in Beginning Quilting. Students will refine piecing and appliqué
techniques, draft patterns from a picture, design their own
blocks and work with color. During the class, students will
complete a full-size album (sampler) quilt top, quilting to
be done after the completion of the class. Text required:

Heirloom Garden

This is an original Budding Star Quilts design. Join us now
in class to begin this project. See the completed quilt at the
shop, then pick your own color palette and start a masterpiece of your own.
Hand Binding

Saturday, July 12, 8:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Come let’s truly FINISH your quit. Sew your binding onto
the front of your quilt before class and in class hand stitch
it to the back. Learn tricks for going faster and creating
perfectly invisible stitches. Class will include a big surprise and free gift. We will also discuss signing your quilt.
It will be a fun day of stitching together.
Hand Project Finishing

Stuck on a project? Just not sure how to finish? Can't find
time to quilt? Come spend two hours a week for eight sessions getting help, encouragement, and having lots of fun
with other quilters.
Hand Quilting Bee

Having trouble finding time to hand quilt? Wondering if
you are using your frame correctly? Join us for a day- long
hand quilting session. Bring your frame and quilt ready to

Rose Sampler Supreme

This is a much-loved shop appliqué project. Choose your
own fabrics & use the shop stencils in class as you begin or
continue this classic quilt.
Knitting Classes

A great “first big project” or a wonderful way for an experienced knitter to stretch her skills. Get help as needed!

Machine Piecing Workshops
A SEWING MACHINE, CLEAN AND IN GOOD WORKING ORDER, IS REQUIRED FOR ALL MACHINE CLASSES.
At Sea ‐ Pa ern by Cozy Quilts With Rita

AT SEA, a quilt using 2-1/2 inch strips plus background, accent
and borders, is an on-going class. This quilt is surprisingly easy
to make. The fabrics you choose dramatically alter the
appearance of this quilt. Come for just one session and learn the
basic construction techniques or come to multiple sessions to
finish your quilt. Sign up no later than a week before class. Quilt
can be made in 5 different sizes: wall/baby, large throw, twin,
queen or king. See samples in the shop or on the website. This is
not the same as Storm at Sea.

make your friends jealous!!! Two sizes to choose from, medium
or large. Plenty of inside pockets for storing your beach baubles,
and large enough to tote your beach necessities! Learn how to
make one for yourself and then be able to make one for your
friends!!! No prior bag making experience necessary. See store

LeMoyne Magic: LeMoyne Stars the Easy Way ‐ NEW

Here’s another amazing pattern from Cozy Quilts: a LeMoyne
Star variation quilt made from 2-1/2-inch strips, plus background,
accent and border fabrics. And, yes, it’s EASY. No partial seams
or Y seams. Come for one class to learn the techniques or come
to multiple sessions to sew and finish. See a picture of the
sample quilt on the website. Quilt can be made in a number of
different sizes, from wallhanging to king. Pattern required:

runners, totes, tree skirts, anything that you started in one of Pat’s
classes can be brought in and worked on and finished!! Bring

great ‘spring cleaning’ adventure!

quilting class.

Mariner’s Compass: Learn to Paper Piece ‐ NEW

Have you wanted to learn to paper piece (foundation piece)? To
make a Mariner’s Compass? This is an EASY beginner’s project
with spectacular results. You will learn the fundamentals of paper
piecing, including tricks and techniques you can apply to future
projects. Make your choice of two different Mariner’s Compass
wallhangings, then use the techniques you learn to make just one
block or a whole quilt. Printed pattern sheets will be supplied.
Required “text”: Bonus Points: Mariner’s Reach for the Stars
CD, by Brenda Henning. (The hardcopy book is out of print, but
the CD contains all the instructional material, plus printable
copies of all the patterns in the book PLUS bonus patterns.)

A Storm at Sea quilt made almost entirely without templates.
Yes, by cutting strips first and then subcutting (without
templates), you can make a Storm at Sea quilt using only ONE
template to trim one of the block’s pieces. The Storm at Sea
block can be set in many different ways and the quilt can be
made in many different sizes just by altering the number of
blocks. This is an original pattern which you will receive in class.
See the Supply List for sample layouts for this wonderful
traditional quilt. BONUS CLASS ADDED: Come back on July
24 from 11 to 4 if you want to continue sewing or if you need
additional help.
A Strippy Scrappy Rag Project

I know I feel better when I make a quilt using fabric from the
bags and boxes that have become my stash. This is a rag style
quilt that can be made with your cotton/non-flannel scraps.
There is a sample at the shop and photo on the website to give
you an idea of what this looks like. Pick up/ print out a supply
sheet so you can be ready for class with at least some strips and
batting cut. Pattern required (though I have modified it for our
class purposes): ‘Strippy Rag’ by Quilt Country

Reverse Stained Glass

Due to problems with the reliability of available 2-sided fusible
web, this class has been cancelled. When high-quality fusible

Sewing Machine Maintenance and Tips and Techniques

There’s a lot to learn to keep your sewing machine happy and
healthy! Did you know that lint from sewing can become “felted”
in your machine’s feed-dogs, preventing them from moving your
fabric when sewing? Did you know that lint felted under the
bobbin case can lock up your machine and even burn it out? Do
you have problems with stitches being too loose or too tight and
do you know how to adjust tension on your machine? When was
the last time you changed the needle? Does your machine need

Have a collection of Tee-shirts you’ve wanted to make into a
quilt? It’s surprisingly easy. In Session 1 (no sewing machine
required), you will organize and cut your tee-shirts and learn how
to stabilize them with fusible stabilizer. We will review a number
of different layout options. In Session 2, you will sew the quilt
top (sewing machine required).
A Twister Workshop With Melanie

(min. 4 prepaid students for class to run) Sundays: June 1, July 27

Pick any Twister pattern (patterns are often wall hanging size but
you can also find baby quilts or larger quilts) and have your
squares cut for our workshop and I will guide you as we learn the
twist! Budding Star has a limited number of twister kits and is
continually creating new ones, so stop in to see what we have.

Quilt in a Day
Choose any of our Pre-cut Kits!
Choose the quilt you would like to make.
Register in advance for the day you would like to sew.
Bring your sewing machine to the store on the day of your class and prepare to have fun! Depending upon the size and
pattern you choose, and how quickly you work, you may or may not quite finish your top. If you do not finish,
you will be well on your way and you will know by the end of class exactly how to finish it.
