User Guide – Gateway to Research (GtR) CSV export Glossary/Data Dictionary
Issued February 2014
Purpose: This Glossary is to serve as a guide for using the CSV export function to extract the
information from your search on the GtR Portal and also provide definitions of the column headings
which appear in shortened form in the downloaded Excel Spreadsheets.
How to use the CSV export
When you have searched for your item (e.g. “Mouse’; or ‘Robotics’), click on the CSV (Comma
Separated Variable) button
on each of the relevant page (Projects, Publications or
Organisations) to get the results of your search in a spreadsheet.
Note – Project Abstract is not currently included in this export functionality due to the potential
considerable size of this piece of information and the effect it may have on the system when
downloading.

Note - the information below marked as internal unique references are identifiers created within GtR and
may assist you in identifying those pieces of information that may be common e.g. each Principle
Investigator called John Smith will have a unique identifier in the PIId column. This will help you identify
that you have the correct John Smith.
