SAFETY CHECK-OUT After correcting the original service problem, perform the following safety checks before releasing the set to the customer. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Check the area of your repair for unsoldered or poorly-soldered connections. Check the entire board surface for solder splashes and bridges. Check the interboard wiring to ensure that no wires are "pinched" or contact high-wattage resistors. Look for unauthorized replacement parts, particularly transistors, that were installed during a previous repair. Point them out to the customer and recommend their replacement. Look for parts which, through functioning, show obvious signs of deterioration. Point them out to the customer and recommend their replacement. Check the B+ voltage to see it is at the values specified. Flexible Circuit Board Repairing • Keep the temperature of the soldering iron around 270˚C during repairing. • Do not touch the soldering iron on the same conductor of the circuit board (within 3 times). • Be careful not to apply force on the conductor when soldering or unsoldering. Unleaded solder Boards requiring use of unleaded solder are printed with the leadfree mark (LF) indicating the solder contains no lead. (Caution: Some printed circuit boards may not come printed with the lead free mark due to their particular size.) : LEAD FREE MARK Unleaded solder has the following characteristics. • Unleaded solder melts at a temperature about 40°C higher than ordinary solder. Ordinary soldering irons can be used but the iron tip has to be applied to the solder joint for a slightly longer time. Soldering irons using a temperature regulator should be set to about 350°C. Caution: The printed pattern (copper foil) may peel away if the heated tip is applied for too long, so be careful! • Strong viscosity Unleaded solder is more viscous (sticky, less prone to flow) than ordinary solder so use caution not to let solder bridges occur such as on IC pins, etc. • Usable with ordinary solder It is best to use only unleaded solder but unleaded solder may also be added to ordinary solder. HVR-DR60 —6— 1. SERVICE NOTE ENGLISH JAPANESE 1-1. SERVICE NOTE 1. NOTE FOR REPAIR Make sure that the flat cable and flexible board are not cracked of bent at the terminal. Do not insert the cable insufficiently nor crookedly. When remove a connector, don’t pull at wire of connector. Be in danger of the snapping of a wire. When installing a connector, don’t press down at wire of connector. Be in danger of the snapping of a wire. Cut and remove the part of gilt which comes off at the point. (Take care that there are some pieces of gilt left inside) 2. POWER SUPPLY DURING REPAIRS In this unit, about 10 seconds after power is supplied to the battery terminal using the regulated power supply (8.4V), the power is shut off so that the unit cannot operate. This following method are available to prevent this.Take note of which to use during repairs. Method 1. Use the AC power adaptor. HVR-DR60 1-1 ENGLISH JAPANESE 1-2. Description Returnable i.LINK-related error (The code that is corresponded to ZZ, is representative for status of i.LINK..) Returnable HDD-related error (The code that is corresponded to ZZ, is representative for error of ATA..) Error is occurred when the power supply -related command is sent from Main controller to Sub controller. (ZZ is given value) In case that error has been occurred with power supply controller of each device using by Sub controller. Cannot enter into sleep mode Stream processor abnormally (ZZ is given value. Attach the sheet (FP-431) to the FP-431 flexible cable of PWB by referring to the figure below. Sheet (FP-431) Wind the sheet around the FP-431 mount. Tolerance: 0 to 2 mm Reference Attach the sheet starting from the portion shown by the arrows. FP-431 Mount. 2. Attach the sheet (heatsink A) to the heatsink A by referring to the figure below. Heatsink A Attach the slit portion of the sheet to the bent portion. Attach the sheet (Heatsink A) to standard portion. Fold back Sheet (Heatsink A) 3. Attach the harness sheet to the battery terminal board and DC-IN connector by referring to the figure below. Cut the harness sheet into 40 x 40 mm square to use. Insert the other end of FBH-002 connected to the SW-492 board to the connector on HD-035 board. HD-035 Board FBH-002 9. (1) Set the Power (mode selector) SW to VIDEO. (2) Press the MENU button. The MAIN MENU appears on the LCD of HVR unit. (3) Press the FF button on the HVR unit to set the cursor to DELETE. (4) Press the PLAY button to perform DELETE. (5) Press the FF button to set the cursor to FORMAT. (6) Press the PLAY button to perform FORMAT. (7) Press the FF button to set the cursor to OK. (8) Press the PLAY button. Formatting starts. (9) When “Complete” appears on the LCD, press the STOP button. If “270min” appears on the LCD, formatting completes. 2. Check the HDD, using the HVR-DR60 check software.
