PREPARATION:
• Always wear safety glasses or eye shields when
starting and while using your air blower.

Avoid weadng loose clothing.
Wear either tightly cuffed or cuffless pants.

• Wear protective, non-slipglovesfor safer operation.
• Before cleaning, inspecting, or repaidng your air
blower, stop the engine and make absolutely sure
all moving parts have stopped. Then disconnect the
wire and keep it away from the spark plug to
prevent accidental starting.
• Do not adjust carburetor. Overspeeding, engine
damage or personal injury may result.
• Do not operate your air blower if it vibrates abnormally. Excessive vibration is an indication of
damage; stop the engine, safely check for the
cause of vibration and repair as needed.
• Do not run the engine indoors. Exhaust fumes are
dangerous.
• Never operate your air blower without proper
guards,tubes or othersafety devices in ;)lace.

arrestor, blower tubes, and nozzles must be assembled
to the unit to be in full compliance with the regulations.

BLOWER TUBE. ALL NECESSARY CLAMPS TO COMPLETE ASSEMBLY AS WELL AS A COMBINATION
WRENCH ARE INCLUDED IN THE PARTS BAG ENCLOSED WITH THE UNIT.
TO ENSURE SAFE AND PROPER OPERATION OF YOUR BACKPACK AIR BLOWER, ALL CLAMPS THAT
YOU INSTALL MUST BE TIGHTENED SECURELY.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE

1. Slide Metal Clamp onto the E!boc_v
Hose, then slidethe Elbow Hose over the Blower DischargePort. Move the
Oblong Clamp againstthe raisedsectionand tighten.(Fig. 1)

2. Slide the two Round Clamps over the outletend of the Elbow Hose. The nuts on the Clamps shouldface away
from the operator. Slide the StraightTube with the felt covered end intothe ElbowHose. Place the Throttle
Handle Assemblyon the end of the Elbow Hose. The Throttle Handle Assemblyshouldbe placedsuch thatthe
ignitionswitch faces up and the throttle lever faces away from the blower. Move clamps over the metalsupport
of the Throttle Handle and tighten.Push the ThrottleCable intothe clipon the ElbowHose. (Fig, 2)

FOR ONE GALLON:
• Pdur3.2 ouncesof high quality,2-cycle engine oil
(AIR-COOLED] intoan empty, approved one gallon
gasolinecontainer.
• Add one gallonof regularunleadedgasolineto the
gallon container, then securely replacethe cap.
Shake the containermomentarily.
• The mixtureis now ready for use. Fuel stabilizer
can be added at this time if desired;follow mixing

1. Remove the air filter cover

1. Service more often when operatmgin dustyor dirty

2. Once a year you shouldreplacethe spark plug and
clean or replace the air filter. A new spark plugand
a clean air filter assures properair-fuel mtxtureand
helps your engme run better and last longer.
CHECK FOR LOOSE FASTENERS
Check all fasteners, includingnuts, bolts, screws and
clamps, to insure that they are tightand secure. If not,
make necessary adjustmentspriorto using atr blower.

mixture is pre-set at the factory and can not be adjusted The idle speed can be adjusted. The idle speed
set screw ts located near the throttle cable on top of the
carburetor. To adjust idle speed'

• Start the blower and move throttleto idle position
• Adjustidle speed to desired speed. (Clockwiseto
increase/counterclockwiseto decrease)

Clean fuel filter once every season to ensure good fuel
flow to the carburetor. This makes the engine run better.
To clean: empty fuel tank, remove fuel tank, remove fuel
valve from tank by unscrewing, flush filter in a mild soap
and water solution and dry before reassembly.
ENGINE CYLINDER COOLING FINS
IMPORTANT: For best performance,keep d=rtfrom
accumulatingaroundthe engine coolingfins. Clogged
coohogfins cause the engine to run hotterand shortens
its life Coolingfins may be cleaned usinga toothbrush
or st(ffbristle brush.

Prepare your Backpack Air Blower for storage at the
end of the season or ifthe unit will not be used for 30
days or more

storage.
2. Be sure that all nuts, bolts,screwS'_ndfasteners are
securelyfastened. Inspectfor d_maged or worn
parts. Replace if necessary.
3. Touch up all rustedor chippedpaintsurfaces,sand
lightlybefor_painting.

The straightblower tubes can be removedto ease
storage Use care not to =kink"the throttlecable.
ENGINE
FUEL SYSTEM - It is importantto preventgum depositsfrom forming in essentialfuel system parts such as
the carburetor, fuel filter, fuel hose or tankduring
storage. Also, experience indicatesthat alcohol blended
fuels (called gasoholor usingethanol or methanol)can
attract moisturewhzchleads to separationand formation of acids during storage•Acidicgas can damage the
fuel system of an engine while in storage.
To avoidengine problems,the fuel system shouldbe
emptied before storageof 30 days or longer. Follow
these instructions:
1. Drain the fuel tank.
2. Start engine and let It run untilthe fuel lines and
ca_urator are empty (engine stops).
3. Use fresh gas nextseason.
4. If you use fuel stabilizer,the gasolinecan be left in
the tank. Remember to turnthe fuel shut-offvalve to
the off positionand follow Step #2 above.

there is no spark or a weak spark, trythe test with a new
spark plug. If a new spark plugdoes not solve the problem,
take the unitto a Sears Service Center
