ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING YOUR UNIT AS A BLOWER NOTE: ,Assembly instructions for using your unR as a vacuum follow this section. ATTACHING THE BLOWER TUBE AND NOZZLE If you have already assembled your unitfor use as a vacuum, remove the vacuum tubes and the collection bag. • Insertthe blowertube intothe blower outieL • Twist the blower tube cJockwiseuntil it is firmlyseated in the blower outieL Make sure the nozzle pointsupward. BlowerOutlet / BlowerTube ASSEMBLYINSTRUCTIONSFOR • Locate the arrows on the upper vacUSINGYOURUNITWITHTHE uum tube and on the vacuum inlet OPTIONALVACUUMATTACHMENT area of _he unit. WARNING: Stop the un'_and disconnect from the power source before opening the inlet cover or attemptingto insert or remove the inlet restrictoror vacuum tubes. The motor must be stopped and the impeller blades no longer turning to avoid serious injury from the rotating blades. REMOVE THE INLET RESTRICTOR An inletrestdctoris used when using ycur unitas a blower.This restrictoris not useddudngvacuum .se, and must be removedduringassemblyfor vscu- • While holdingthe inlet cover open, align the arrows and insertthe vacuum tube intothe opening. Twist the tube dock'wise untilit is seated. A second arrow on the vacuum tube will align with the arrow on the unit once the tube twisted completely in place. um use. NOTE: Be sure to keep the inlet restrictor for using your unit as a blower. • Open the inlet cover by insertingthe tip of a screwdriverintothe inlet cover latcharea, and twistingthe screwdriver whilepulling the inletcover open. Align arrows on tube & unit • Attach the lower vacuum tube to the upper vacuum tube by aligning the arrows on the two tubes. Press the tubes together until the lower tube is fully seated in the upper tube. (About 3 inches) Bottomview unit • Rotate the inlet restrictorcounterclockwise, and liftout of the unit. Upper Lower ATTACH THE COLLECTION BAG Slide the opening of the collection bag over the blower outlet. Pull the strap with Velcro tightlythrough the budde and secure with Velcro tabs. Do not close the inlet door.You will next attach the vacuum tubes. NOTE: Make sure the strap with Velcro is locatedon the blower outlet as shown. Also, make sure the zipper on the bag is completely clnsed. Strop with Velcro ATTACHING THE VACUUM TUBES There are 2 vacuum tubes, an upper and lower tube. The upper tube is cut straighton both ends, and attaches to the blower unit.The second tube is cut an at angle on the lower end. This ' -._angled end will point toward the ground duringvacuum use. C,dlectlon Bag 6 Mower Outer ADJUSTING THE SHOULDER ON THE COLLECTION BAG STRAP • Carefully loop the shoulder strap through the buckle as shown in the illustration below. Last In First In • Positionthe unit on your dght-hand side, blower outlet and bag pointing toward the rear. Hold the unit in an uptight position, and supportthe lower vacuum tube on the ground. • Place the shoulder strap over your head and onto your left shoulder. • Adjust the strap to allow a free flow of air from the blower. Ifthe collection bag is kinked, the unit will not operate properly. NOTE: The strap is designed to position the collectionbeg on your shoulderwithout kinks. The strap is not intendedto supportthe weight of the unit.. Shoulder strap on leftshoulder NOTE: If you are unable to locate the inlet restrictor, the unit will still operate. This restdctor improves the blower function. • Close the inlet cover and make sure it is latched closed. • Re-install the blower tubes. Refer to the section A'R'ACHING THE BLOWER TUBE AND NOZZLE for instructions on how to attach these items. EXTENSION CORD Use only a 120 A.C. voltagesupply as shown on nameplate of the unit. The extension cord used to reach the power soume must be: • Specificallymarked as suitable for outdoor use. The cord must be marked with the suffix "W-A." • Heavy enough to carry current from the power source the full length of extension cord to the unit. Otherwise, lossof power and overheating can occur causing damage to unit. Refer to chart for minimumwire gauge recommendations. The cord must be marked with the proper wire gauge. (Appropriateextension cords are available.) Do not use multiple cords. • In good condition.Cord insulation must be intact with no cracks or deterioration. Plug connectors must be undamaged. The INLET COVER LATCH is used to open and close the inlet cover. The NOZZLE is designed to direct the flow of air. Dispose of debris in trash receptacles. STOPPING YOUR UNIT Slide the On/Off switch to the OFF position. STARTING YOUR UNIT Your unit has two run positions,Low and High. Slide the switchto one of these positionsto turn on the unit. WARNING: Do not use the unit without the blowertubes, or collectionbag properlyattached to avoid flyiT1gdebris and/or Impeller contact which can cause sedous injury. USINGYOURUNITAS A BLOWER Useyourunitas a blowerfor:. • sweep frcmc ewa or skkMa pa, et= • Blowinggrass clipping,s,straw, or leaves into piles, or removingdebris from comers, around joints, or between bdcks. Direct air flow by directing the nozzle down or to one side. Always work away from solid objects such as walks, large stones, vehicles, and fences. Clean comers by starling in comers end moving outward. This will help prevent an accumulation of debris which could fly into your face. Be careful when working near plants. The force of the air could damage tender plants. USING YOUR UNIT WITH THE OPTIONAL VACUUM ATTACHMENT Use your unit as a vacuum to pick up dry matedai such as leaves, grass, small twigs, and bits of paper. • For best resultsdudng vacuum use, operate your unit at high speed. • Move slowlyback and forth over the material as you vacuum. Avoid fom"ngthe unit intoa pie of dabds,as this can clog the unit. • Keep the vacuum tube about an inch above the groundfor best results. NOTE: If the unit becomes clogged, stop the unitand disconnectthe extension cord. Wait untilthe impeUerhas completelystopped tuming, then remove the vacuum tubes. Carefully reach into the vacuum opening and clear out the cloggeddebris. BEFORE EACH USE CHECK FOR LOOSE FASTENERS AND PARTS • Inlet Cover • BlowerTube • Nozzle • Vacuum Tubes (if equipped) • CollectionBag (if equipped) CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR WORN PARTS Refer replacement of damaged/wom parts to your Seers Service Center. • On/Off Switch- Ensure switchfunc- tkx_spropedy bymo_ngtheswitch to the Off pusilk_. Make sure motor stope;then rsstsrt motor and cor_ue. AFTER EACH USE CLEAN UNIT & LABELS • Stop the unit and disconnect the extension cord. • Clean the unit using a damp cloth with a mild detergenL • Wipe off unit with a clean dry cloth. YEARLY CLEAN COLLECTION BAG IMPORTANT: THE COLLECTION BAG MUST BE PROPERLY EMPTIED. • YOUmust properly empty and maintain the collectionbag to avoid deteriorationand obstruc_n of air flow. • Stop the unit and disconnectthe extension cord. • Remove the bag and empty after each use. Do not store bag without emptyingthe bag of all contents. • Wash the bag once a year by turning inside out and washing with a water hose. Be sure to let bag dry completely before reusingthe unit. HOW TO REMOVE AN OBJECT FROM THE AIR INTAKE NOTE: If the unit becomes dogged, or an object is drawn into the air intake, stop the unit and disconnect the extension cord. Wait untilthe impeller has completely stopped turning, then remove the vacuum tubes. Carefutty reach into the vacuum opening and clear out the air intake area. Inspect the impellerfor cracks. If cracked or damaged, do not use the unit. Have parts replaced by your Sears Service Center. Do not attempt to replace them yourself. Prepare unit for storage at the end of the season or if it will not be used for 30 days or more. WARNING: • Secure the unitbefore storing or transporting. • Store unitwith aftguards in place. -Position unitso that any sharp object cannot accidentally cause injury. • Store unit well-out of the-reach of children. BLOWER STORAGE • Diso00nect from the power source. • Clean the entire unit. • Open inlet cover and clean any dirt, grass, or debris that has collected. Inspectthe blower and all tubes. Close end make sure the cover is latched. • Clean air vents and air inlet of debds. • Store your unit and extension cord in a well ventilated area and covered, if possible,to prevent dust and dirt accumulation. Do not cover with plastic. Plastic cannot breathe and may cause condensationand eventual rust or corrosion. • Check entire unitfor loose screws, nuts, and bolts. Replace any damaged, worn, or broken parts.
