(DaeSSY) and CJT Enterprises can be used with all ATI devices and mounted on most conventional power and manual wheelchairs. Mounting systems require a mounting plate, which is included with some ATI devices (see the Mounting Plate section at the right for details). Choose the appropriate mount based on the abilities of the user, type of AAC device, and type of wheelchair being used. DaeSSY Mounts These mounts from DaeSSY (some shown above) store devices in different ways when not being used. 3 Rigid Mount—device and mount must be removed for the user to access the wheelchair. 3 Folding Mount—device may be folded down beside the wheelchair. The 1" side mount ROP (Removable Outer Piece) version can support equipment that is heavy enough to tip an unoccupied wheelchair when the attached device is outside the wheelbase. Detach the device or remove the mount before the wheelchair is vacated. 3 Swing Away Mount—device may be swung away from the user like a gate, allowing easy access in and out of the wheelchair (not recommended for wheelchairs with a tilting seat system). 3 Rear Mount—the device is folded away behind the backrest of the wheelchair when not needed. 3 Lockable Rear Folding Mount—similar to the Rear Mount, with the added feature of a lock mechanism to hold the mount in place while in use. Folding Mount Swing Away Mount ATI devices can be mounted to wheelchairs with round or square/rectangular tubing. For round tubing, specify the tubing size (diameter) of the wheelchair. Most round tubing sizes are 1", 7/8" or 3/4". Also specify the vertical and horizontal tube lengths. Standard tube lengths for DaeSSY mounts are 16" (horizontal) and 22" (vertical, either S-bent for Rigid and Folding Mounts or right angle for Swing Away Mounts). Desk Mounts Other tubing lengths are available upon request. Contact ATI Customer Service for more information. Device users and family members should consult a therapist for guidance. The Clamp Desk Mount, a variation on the standard Desk Mount, uses a Manfrotto Super Clamp to clamp onto the edge of the table. Similar to the standard Desk Mount, the U-Tube can be adjusted for angle and position. Desk Mounts, from DaeSSY, are most commonly used in conjunction with one of the DaeSSY wheelchair mounts and allow a device to be positioned on a desk or table at precisely the same orientation as it is on the wheelchair. The Desk Mount consists of a base and U-shaped tube that holds the attachment fitting for the device on its adapter. CJT Mounts With CJT’s Profiler Mount, the device’s mounting plate attaches to a ball that allows a multitude of angles. The adjustable tube length works well for child or adult wheelchairs. The push/pull pin quickly releases the tubing from the base clamp. Choose round or square/rectangular tubing. Profiler Mounts are easy to use, hold up to 15 pounds, install in minutes, are light-weight yet durable, and can mount on either the left or right side. Switch Mounts Switch Mounts allow you to fasten a switch securely to a wheelchair. The DaeSSY Switch Mount Kit and the Slim Armstrong Switch Mount from AbleNet give you parts to configure a suitable system for a user’s needs. The Universal Switch Mounts from AbleNet, with either a lever or knob to lock the joints in place, attaches a switch to a wheelchair or anywhere else. They extend to 20.5" and hold up to 5 pounds.
