What Mercedes-Benz engineers have learned in competition
can be found not just in the free-revving, pavement-clinging
responsiveness of an SLK. It’s also evident in its highly rigid
body, and the protective nature of its safety systems — many
of which made their sports-car debut under the Three-Pointed
Star. It’s most apparent, however, in the way the passion for
open-air driving endures at Mercedes-Benz — even under the
increasing demands of progress. Actually, because of them.
From the roofless yet record-setting racecars of the 1910s
to the the iconic midcentury SL, what has always defined a
Mercedes -Benz roadster — or racecar — are the bonds that
instantly form: between driver and car, car and road, road
and sky, and all of you in harmony as one. It’s what each
precisely tailored detail of the SLK’s two-seat cockpit has in
common with every move of its agile chassis: the ability to

Back when some sports cars didn’t even have glass side windows,
the SLK’s forefather offered both an elegantly tailored soft top and
a stylish detachable hardtop. The SLK’s signature power top is the
ongoing evolution of two core Mercedes-Benz beliefs: Truly great
design is always in style. And a true sports car is always in season.

When the first SLK debuted nearly 20 years ago, it brought
the convertible top into a new modern age. At the time, it
was the only car in production factory-engineered with a
power retractable hardtop, but it started a trend that swept
the industry. Today, while there are countless conceptually
similar roofs on the market, the 3rd-generation SLK hardtop
continues to lead the way with its sleek design, its smooth
and swift operation, and its two see-through configurations.
The SLK’s heated glass rear window somersaults as the top
is lowered beneath the double-hinged trunklid. The result is
a space-efficient nesting of its components, preserving more
than 60% of the cargo space. It also creates a trunk whose
proportions are elegant on the outside, and generous on the
inside. But the litmus test of any roadster’s design is whether
its style vanishes the moment its top comes into view. Few
roadsters transform into a coupe as seamlessly as an SLK.
In profile, the SLK’s muscular shoulders are free of unsightly
shut lines, for a clean look whether the top is up or down. It
takes less than 20 seconds to raise or lower the roof — from
a console switch or remotely from outside.3 And even with the
power hardtop up, you can still take in the sky. The standard
Panorama roof integrates a lightweight tinted see-through
panel. The optional MAGIC SKY CONTROL® lets you darken
its glass panel electrically — a Mercedes-Benz exclusive.
Promises, hearts, and once
in a while, a world record.
When it comes to enduring performance, Mercedes-Benz has a long record of overdelivering on both potential and passion. Unlike promises and hearts, however, speed
records are something everyone tries to break. In 1954’s Mille Miglia, legendary driver
Stirling Moss and his equally iconic 300 SLR racecar achieved more than a racing win.
Averaging 98.5 mph, they set a 10‑hour, 7‑minute, 48‑second course record that still
stands. It’s a fitting symbol of something else that’s never been broken: The promise
within every Mercedes -Benz sports car to win hearts as passionately as it does races.

More than the sum, and then some.
There’s far more to the performance data of the SLK
than a list of numbers. The data behind the data tells
an even richer story. Consider the 0–60 figure for any
SLK. It couldn’t happen without high-pressure Direct
Injection reaching 2,900 psi — so it can squeeze more
power from each atom of fuel. It’s cleaner and stronger
because the multispark ignition can fire each spark
plug a second, third or even fourth time — all in a single
millisecond — for more effective combustion. In the
SLK 250, you get instant, lag-free torque from a turbo
that spools up to 150,000 rpm with lightning speed.
And because every SLK’s rear wheels are an inch
wider than the fronts, its driven tires can better turn
traction into acceleration. Which brings us back to go.
The SLK is a network of precise elements, intricately
woven to create something greater than data. It’s a
complex collaboration with a delightfully simple result,
whether you’re unleashing its eager revs, untangling
a tight curve, or just unwinding from a hectic day.
Light heavyweight. Compact in size and
light in weight, the 201‑hp inline-4 in the
SLK 250 delivers a big punch from just
1.8 liters of size. With a quick-spooling
intercooled turbo, high-pressure Direct
Injection and rapid-multispark ignition, it
puts all of its 229 lb‑ft of peak torque on
tap from 2,200 to 4,300 rpm. The result
is immediate throttle response in almost
any situation, along with an impressive
sense of responsibility. Or to put that in
numbers: 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds,1
and up to 33 mpg on the highway.2
Precision powerhouse. The 3.5 ‑liter
V‑6 under the SLK 350 hood enlists a
team of powerful advances to convert
a trickle of fuel into a torrent of torque.
The Direct Injection’s ultrafine yet highly
pressurized fuel spray and multispark
ignition team up to generate ferocious
power in a manner that’s both leaner
and greener. With 302 hp and 273 lb‑ft
of peak torque, the SLK 350 can rush to
60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, yet return
up to 29 mpg on the open highway.
Idle smarter. While you’re waiting for
a light to change or for traffic to get
going, an ECO Start/Stop system on
the SLK 350 can automatically shut off
its engine, helping save fuel and reduce
overall emissions. An illuminated “A”
symbol lets you know when the engine
is paused. When you’re ready to go, the
V‑6 automatically fires back to life as
you lift your foot from the brake, or the
instant you press the accelerator.
Mood changer. Sports-car purists will
appreciate the 6‑speed manual gearbox
that’s standard on the SLK 250. Its short
throws and precise action make every
shift as invigorating as the free-revving
response that results. That said, opting
for the 7‑speed automatic — standard on
the SLK 350 — takes nothing away from
the roadster experience. It continually
adapts its shift points to your driving
style, and offers pushbutton Sport, ECO
and Manual settings. Shift paddles on
the steering wheel put gear changes
at your fingertips, including full manual
control even in Sport and ECO modes — simply by using the paddles. Automatic
shifting resumes a few seconds after you
let go — but if you’re in the process of
taking a curve, it’ll wait until you exit.
Curve appeal. The 4‑wheel multilink
suspension is tuned to take advantage of
the precision inherent in the SLK’s highly
rigid body. The result is an ideal balance
of quick handling and a composed ride.
An available Dynamic Handling Package
adds electronically controlled damping
that adapts each shock absorber instantly
to the driving conditions. Its pushbutton
Sport mode sharpens the damping rates
further. Standard speed-sensing power
steering is augmented with Direct-steer,
an innovation that varies the steering
ratio to how far you’ve turned the wheel.
It gives you quicker response in corners,
crisper on‑center feel, inspiring straightline stability at higher speeds, and even
easier effort in parking maneuvers.
Corner control. On every SLK roadster,
the front and rear wheels are sized to
optimize their specific benefits. Wider
rear wheels and tires can transfer torque
to the tarmac more effectively, while the
front wheels are sized for more precise
steering feel and feedback. In addition
to the standard 17" alloys (SLK 250) or
18" wheels (SLK 350), two 18" options
for both models include an iconic AMG®
5‑spoke design in the Sport Package.4

Uncommon bond.
For 47 years, AMG has been creating championship racecars
and thoroughbreds for the street. Every trophy earned, and
each lesson learned, has shared the same starting line: an
engine crafted by the hands of its own master. “One man, one
engine” is more than a guiding philosophy — it’s a pedigree
of performance that’s evident throughout the car. And it’s
a promise made during the rigors of competition that every
Mercedes-AMG fulfills even in the routine of a daily commute.
Is it a racecar for the road? No. It’s an automobile that can
conduct itself with absolute authority in any arena of driving.
SLK 55 AMG. It’s crafted in the AMG tradition
by a single pair of skilled hands. And yet the
5.5‑liter V‑8 of the SLK 55 is a technological
masterpiece, too. Its 415 hp and 398 lb‑ft of
torque can thrust you to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.1
Yet its breathtaking power output comes with
easy-breathing benefits like ultralow emissions
and up to 28 highway mpg.2 With light weight
and low friction, the Direct Injection V‑8 revs
freely, for lightning-quick response across
a wide range. Its ECO Start/Stop and AMG
Cylinder Management can shut off four of its
cylinders — or even all eight — when they’re not
needed, then reignite them in 30 milliseconds.
Modes for many moods. The 7‑speed AMG
SPEEDSHIFT® PLUS transmission offers three
driving programs, including a Sport mode with
raised shift points. In Manual mode, aluminum
shift paddles command expertly rev-matched
downshifts. Mellow in relaxed cruising, the
AMG Sport exhaust awakens with a growl at
startup, and unleashes a snarling crescendo
under acceleration and during gear changes.
AMG-developed chassis. Torque Vectoring
Brake boosts control and confidence, further
empowering the 3‑stage ESP® by assisting
the car’s rotation in corners. Staggered 18"
AMG 5‑spoke wheels4 offer an enticing peek
at the AMG brake hardware. All this capability
is delivered to the driver’s hands via an AMG
Sport steering wheel whose Nappa leather rim
features flattened top and bottom sections.
Track-tuned. The AMG Handling Package revs
up the racing-bred character of the SLK 55
even higher. It adds a limited-slip differential,
unleashes the top speed to 174 mph,5 and lets
the driver rein it in with an AMG Performance
steering wheel featuring DINAMICA side grips.
At the package’s core, the AMG Performance
suspension’s sharper calibration is expressed
via AMG multispoke wheels in your choice of
sleek Silver or menacing Matte Black finishes.

Go with the flow, slow with the flow.
Available DISTRONIC PLUS® uses radar to adapt your set cruising
speed in response to the flow of traffic ahead. It can slow your SLK
automatically — or brake it all the way to a stop — then resume when
traffic clears with a tap.7 Even if you’re not using the cruise control,
PRE-SAFE® Brake can audibly alert you to stopped traffic in front
of you, and automatically apply up to 100% of the car’s braking
force, to help prevent a rear-end collision or reduce its severity.8
Lane Keeping Assist. Using a
camera to monitor visible lane
markings, this option can alert
you by vibrating the steering
wheel if you start to drift out of
your lane without signaling.9
Dual roll bars. Made of fiber-reinforced
micro-alloy tubular steel, the twin roll
bars are affixed to the car’s rigid rear
bulkhead, to help preserve the occupant
space in a rollover. High-strength steel
also fortifies the windshield’s framing.6
A watchful eye when’s it time for a rest. ATTENTION ASSIST® is a Mercedes -Benz innovation that can
alert you if it detects signs of drowsiness on long drives. It measures more than 70 variables, starting in
the first minutes of a drive, to establish a pattern. By continually monitoring a variety of driving behaviors
along your trip, it can offer a warning tone and encourage taking a rest if it senses you’re getting drowsy.9
Eyes to your sides. No matter how carefully you adjust your mirrors and check over your shoulders before
changing lanes, you can’t control the actions of other drivers. When the sensors of the available Blind Spot
Assist detect a vehicle to either side of your SLK, an icon illuminates in the appropriate side mirror to alert
you. If you signal for a lane change while the alert is active, the icon flashes and a warning tone sounds.10

Predictive Brake Priming. Part of a
pioneering suite of adaptive braking
technologies prepares the SLK’s brakes
for quicker response before you even
reach the brake pedal. If you lift off the
accelerator quickly, it precharges the
pads, setting them closer to the discs.8
A convertible with conviction. Engineered from road to sky as a convertible, the SLK delivers renowned
Mercedes-Benz body rigidity without excessive weight. Its advanced materials include ultrahigh-strength
steel reinforcements, a magnesium hardtop frame, and aluminum for the front fenders and the hood. Eight
air bags include head-level air bags designed to offer protection even with the top and windows lowered.11

elements and speed-dependent
fans in each seat envelop your
neck, head and shoulders in
warmed air, like a virtual scarf.3
Year-round comfort. Heated seats3 offer
soothing warmth in winter. In summer, the

Wind tamers. A rigid mesh screen
snaps into position between the dual
roll bars to calm drafts in the cabin
while preserving your rear vision. It’s
also easy to remove and stow neatly
in the trunk. The optional AIRGUIDE®
windstops replace the screen with
see-through wind guards. Mounted to
each of the roll bars, they’re easy to
reach and manually pivot into place.
Unlimit your exposure.
An open road, and an open roadster. Is there a better excuse to sneak away for
a day? No matter how you explain your absence to your office, the SLK has your
agenda covered, even as you bask in the sunshine. From a continuous playlist
to a spontaneous lunch stop, it can make any outing feel like endless summer.
Ensconcing comfort. Embracing sport seats each feature
8‑way power adjustment, a 3‑position memory, and 4‑way
power lumbar supports. The driver-seat memory stores the
steering column and side-mirror settings, too. In addition to
seat heating,3 AIRSCARF ® can envelop your shoulders and
neck in warmed air.3 The standard Panorama roof includes
a heat-rejecting tinted overhead panel. Or opt for MAGIC
SKY CONTROL® and you can darken the roof at the touch
of a button. Its innovative glass panel is embedded with
magnetic particles that are normally scattered, blocking light.
When current is applied, they line up to let light pass.
Enchanting style. Aluminum trim adds sleek highlights to
the cockpit controls, gauges, air vents and dual roll bars, as
well as the console and doors. Hand-polished wood trim is a
stylish option, in dramatic Black Ash or classic Burl Walnut — or you can add genuine carbon fiber to the SLK 55 AMG. The
seats and door armrests are impeccably topstitched with
contrasting thread, and their upholstery is fitted by hand.
Special sun-reflecting treatment of the supple, richly grained
leather 3 or the smooth, even softer Nappa leather12 helps
them stay cooler and last longer under the sun’s harsh rays.
Easy connections. The 3‑spoke steering wheel features a
flat-bottom design and Nappa leather trim. Shift paddles
are placed within easy reach of the wheel’s perforated side
grips. So are its multifunction buttons, which team with the
central controller on the console to unify all your options in
entertainment, navigation, information and vehicle settings.
Crisp gauges and two color screens — a standard 5.8" central
display plus an illustrated multifunction readout right in front
of the driver — remain sharp even when the top is down. For a
sporty final touch, a dashtop analog clock is also available.
Endless entertainment. Standard Bluetooth® lets you make
phone calls hands-free, and stream digital music wire-free.13
Standard audio gear includes HD Radio™ stations, a USB port,
and a CD player. Nationwide SiriusXM Radio3 comes with a
6‑month All Access plan trial, so you can also listen on your
smartphone and tablet.14 A Media Interface3 links your iPod®

Lower aspect ratio tires and accompanying wheels provide substantially increased treadwear, increased tire noise and reduced ride comfort.
Serious wheel and tire damage may occur if the vehicle is operated on rough or damaged road surfaces or upon encountering road debris
or obstacles. These tires are not designed for use on snow and ice. Winter tires mounted on appropriately sized and approved wheels are
recommended for driving in those conditions.
Obey local speed and traffic laws.
The roll bar system is designed to enhance the level of rollover protection compared to a vehicle without one. No system, regardless of how
advanced, can eliminate the chance of injury in an accident. Please always wear your seat belt.
DISTRONIC PLUS® adaptive cruise control is no substitute for active driving involvement. It does not adapt cruising speed in response to stationary
objects, nor does it predict the curvature and lane layout of the road ahead or the movement of vehicles ahead. It is the driver’s responsibility at

all times to be attentive to traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of
the vehicle. Drivers are cautioned not to wait for the DISTRONIC Proximity Warning System before braking, as that may not afford sufficient time
and distance to brake safely.
Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake maintenance, and tire and road conditions.
Driving while drowsy or distracted is dangerous and must be avoided. ATTENTION ASSIST® and/or Lane Keeping Assist may be insufficient to
alert a fatigued or distracted driver of lane drift and cannot be relied on to avoid an accident or serious injury. Lane Keeping Assist operates at
speeds above approximately 20 mph.
Blind Spot Assist may not be sufficient to avoid all accidents involving vehicles in your blind spot and does not estimate the speed of approaching
vehicles. It must not be used as a sole substitute for driver awareness and checking of surrounding traffic conditions.
