Others Glossary O PCM PCM is a format to covert an analog sound signal into a digital signal. It encodes analog signals into digital format and involves no compression process. The signal converted by this method is called PCM signal and used for music CDs and DVDs. O Sampling frequency Sampling is recording sound waves (analog signals) at regular intervals and digitalizing the height of the sound waves. The number of samples obtained in one second is called the sampling frequency. As the sampling frequency gets higher, the sound closer to the original can be reproduced and higher sound quality can be achieved. O SRS SRS® restores the original three-dimensional sound field of stereo recordings by retrieving spatial information buried in the recordings to create an immersive 3D sound-field using only two speakers or headphones. 24 HAV-R100G_R200G_R300GT.indb 24 4/20/2012 11:58:16 AM
