Thank you for purchasing the PERRIN Legacy front sway bar. Installation of this sway bar should only be performed by persons
experienced in the installation, and proper operation of suspension systems. Please read through all the instructions before performing
the installation.

The use of a factory service manual is highly recommended. These can be purchased or downloaded online at
http://techinfo.subaru.com. Factory tools can be purchased at http://subaru.spx.com.
It is critical that all bolts and nuts are tightened, improper tightening can cause serious injury or death.
Make sure to use supplied Energy Suspension grease with installation. Do not use regular grease.

Install PERRIN sway bar:
1.
Park car on a smooth level surface. Using suitable commercial vehicle hoist or floor jack, raise vehicle onto jack stands.
NEVER WORK UNDER A VEHICLE SOLELY SUPPORTED BY A JACK! DEATH OR INJURY MAY OCCUR.
2. Remove front splashguard. Locate (3) 12mm bolts, and (4-6) plastic pop-it connectors.
3. Remove engine cross member brace from sub frame. Remove (4) 12mm bolts, and (4) 14mm nuts.
4. Remove end links, bushings and brackets to remove stock swaybar. Leave endlinks attached to control arm.
5. Generously grease bushings using supplied grease and place bushings on bar. Align bushings with chassis prior to
installing.
6. Install the PERRIN bar using supplied bushings and OEM brackets. Note: Swaybar installs/dips under steering
linkage not over!
7. Connect end links using stock hardware removed earlier.
8. End links can be bolted to either of the two mounting holes. The hole closest to the front of the car is the stiffest setting;
the hole closest to the rear is the softest setting. NOTE: Stiffer settings will reduce vehicles tendency to over steer.
9. Re-Install engine cross member brace to engine crossmember. Tighten (4) 12mm bolts/nuts to 18ft-lbs, and 14mm nuts
to 40ft-lbs.
10. Reinstall engine splashguard removed earlier. Tighten 12mm bolts to 18ft-lbs.
11. Lower vehicle from jackstands or hoist, and proceed to test drive. If “squeaking” is noted in front of car, re-grease
bushings.

NOTE: STIFFER SETTINGS WILL INCREASE VEHICLES TENDENCY TO UNDER STEER. THE HANDLING OF YOUR
VEHICLE WILL BE AFFECTED DRAMATICALLY WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THIS SWAY BAR AND THE END LINK
POSITION YOU CHOOSE. DRIVE VEHICLE CAUTIOUSLY UNTIL YOU BECOME FAMILIAR AND ACCUSTOMED TO THE
NEW HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUR VEHICLE!
