Comenzamos el tema de portada con una introducción de
Jorge Úbeda a la idea de contar/cuantificar los niños y su
importancia para la sociedad. Entrevistamos a Jorge Cardo¬
na, miembro del Comité de los Derechos del Niño, sobre el
cuidado y la protección a la infancia y qué información ne¬
cesitamos para ello. En el primero de los artículos, firmado
por Antonio Argüeso, se analiza la evolución de la población
infantil en los últimos añosy su proyección a futuro. A con¬
tinuación, Cristina Guisande, a partir de los datos del Censo,
estudia las formas de convivencia de la población infantil
en los hogares cata lanes y sus características principales. El
artículo de José Luis Castellanos enfoca las estadísticas de
protección a la infancia y, en concreto, de la Estadística Bási¬
ca de Medidas de Protección a la Infancia (EBMPI), elabora¬
da por el Observatorio de la Infancia en colaboración con las
Comunidades Autónomas. Entrevistamos a Salomé Adro¬
her, Directora General de Servicios para la familiay la infan¬
cia del Ministerio de Sanidad, Servicios Sociales e Igualdad,
que nos habla de las principales problemáticas de los niños
en Españayqué medidas deberían adoptarse para mejorar
su situación. A continuación, Conchi Ballesteros detalla las
observaciones que, durante los últimos años, ha realizado
el Comité de los Derechos del Niño sobre las estadísticas
de infancia en España, los progresos que se han realizado
y lo que queda por hacer. En este sentido, el artículo de M4
Ángeles Espinosa y Esperanza Ochaita propone un Sistema
de Indicadores basado en la teoría de las necesidades infan¬
tiles y adolescentes que permita estudiar su realidad desde
un enfoque multidimensional. Ana Berástegui y Blanca Gó¬
mez nos presentan una panorámica de la adopción interna¬
cional en España a partir de la información de la (EBMPI) y
Pau Marí-Klosey Marga Marí-Klose elaboran una propues¬
ta de protección social contra la pobreza infantil mediante
transferencias monetarias. Por último, Caterina Calsamiglia
y Annalisa Loviglio analizan las consecuencias de un siste¬
ma inflexible de escolarización por año de nacimiento.
