Alberta Worm Invasion: Worm Tracker http://worms.educ.ualberta.ca/ User guide for Alberta Worm Invasion – Worm Tracker To install the app for iphones and ipads click here. Note: you will need to take pictures of the worms that you identify so the data should be collected on a device with a camera (i.e. iphone, not ipods) Once the app is installed, follow the program as directed. If needing assistance follow these steps. 1. Open the app. 2. You will have two choices a. Learn about worms – this will take you to the website associated with this project. This site is full of information regarding worms, the worm project and resources available. b. Start Sighting – this will take you to the research section in which you enter data about the worms you have found and the ecosystem they were found in. i. Click on add a place. ii. Fill out the information (name, city, province, and country) and click next. iii. Select the appropriate description of area (tap on the down arrow to see the selections of choice). Then choose if the area has human impacts, if near a stream or lake and if there is leaf litter present (note: if yes, you need to measure the depth of the litter in mm). Click save when ready. iv. This will bring you back to the My Places page. You can add several places by clicking on the “add a place” button or delete places by clicking on the garbage can on the right. v. Select the place you would like to enter data about. vi. Click on worm sighting. vii. Fill out the information (weather, ground moisture, sampling method, classification, and length in cm). Click next when done. viii. Take a picture of the worm and add any details you think are necessary. ix. This will bring you to a new page showing the picture. At the top right will be two small green buttons. One is to delete the image and the other provides the details you entered about the worm. x. Click on the bottom button that says “upload photo”. xi. Congrats! You have just finished your first worm sighting helping Dr. Erin Cameron with her research. xii. If you need to enter another sighting, click on “worm sighting” or click on the home bottom (top right) to start over.
