Partially charging the battery on a consistent basis will drastically reduce the life of the battery. Caution: Insert battery with the correct polarity. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix different types of batteries: Alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (NiCd). Never short-circuit the battery terminals. Do not dispose of batteries in the fire, batteries may explode or leak. Remove batteries during long periods of non-use or when product is stored. Dispose of batteries safely. MAINTENANCE & USE: If the light does not turn on in the evening do the following: 1. Check the surrounding area for high ambient lights, such as porch lights, streetlights, etc. 2. Make sure the switch is at the “on” or “auto” position 3. Make sure solar panel is not located in a shady area, where sunlight is not reaching the unit. 4. Make sure the batteries are making contact with the terminals. (See “BATTERY REPLACEMENT,” to learn how to access battery area.) P 1. The end point of the ground stake is sharp. Do not allow children to play with the stake. 2. Wipe with soft dry cloth. Do not use any chemicals or abrasives of any kind. 3. The transparent lens on top of the solar panel assembly is sealed. Do not attempt to remove. 4. Solar lights are weatherproof, but during winter or cold temperatures (below 0ºC/32ºF), it is best to removed them and store them until extreme weather dissipated.
