Vinotemp Wine Cooler/Cabinet Placement Guidelines
Designating the proper location for your wine cellar is important. There are several considerations which need to be
made in order to receive the best performance results from your unit.
Placement:
Place your wine cellar on a solid, level surface that is strong enough to support the appliance when it is fully loaded. If
unit needs to be leveled slightly, most wine cellars include adjustable leveling legs.
Freestanding or Built-In:
If your wine cellar is a front exhaust system, you will see an exhaust grill on the front. ONLY front-exhaust wine
cellars should be used as under counter/built-in units. Wine cellars with rear exhaust are meant for freestanding
installation only.
Ambient Temperature:
As a general rule, Vinotemp metal wine coolers should be located in an environment where the ambient temperature
will not exceed 80°F or drop below 50°F. Otherwise, the unit will not have the capacity to keep the wine at a desirable
55 degrees. Please read the owner’s manual for specific guidelines for your model.
The cooling system of your wood wine cabinet has the ability to cool a maximum of 25 degrees below the ambient
temperature in the room. Therefore, you want to place the unit in a room with an ambient temperature in the range
of 55° and 78°F. Models using a more powerful cooling unit (like the 500E) may be suitable for use in areas with an
ambient temperature up to 95°F.
Ventilation:
Place your wine cellar in a properly ventilated location and be sure to keep the vents unobstructed.
Wood Wine Cabinets: Rear exhaust wine cabinets should be placed 6” away from the back wall. In addition,
there should be at least 12” clearance above the top of the unit and on each side.
Butler/Pro Series compressor-based metal wine coolers: For proper operation, freestanding units should
have a minimum 3” at the back and 5” clearance at the top and sides. For built-in units, make sure there is
adequate clearance directly in front of front vent.
Portofino Series wood-exterior wine coolers: For proper operation, leave at least 8” at the back and 6”
clearance on each side.
Eco Series thermoelectric wine coolers: Ensure there is at least 2” of clearance at the sides and 4” of
clearance at the back of the cooler for adequate ventilation.
Ideal Environment:
The following are other basic guidelines as to the placement of your Vinotemp wine cellar.
♦
Keep away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc).
♦
Designed for indoor/household use. Not designed for garage or basement use, due to the ambient
temperature fluctuations*. (*exception 500EC)
♦
Do not place objects on top of your wine cooler.
♦
Keep appliance in a dry environment.
Electrical:
Wine cellars should always be plugged into a properly grounded outlet. Do not use an extension cord with your wine
cellar.
Other Considerations:
Temperature: Most Vinotemp compressor-based metal wine coolers are designed with slight variations in temperature from
top to bottom. This is done to create varying temperature zones allowing you to properly store reds, whites and sparkling
wines all in one unit. This variation from top to bottom is normal. A temperature fluctuation of 5 degrees also prevents the
unit from excessive cycling.
Shipping: Please be aware of the shipping method designated for your Vinotemp wine cellar. If Curbside delivery is used,
product will only be delivered to the destination’s “curb.” White Glove delivery service is available for some products.
Products will be delivered indoors, but stairs or difficult delivery situations may incur additional charges.
