Which devices can you use Public Library Online?
•
A computer or internet enabled portable device such as a tablet or smartphone. This
service cannot be used on devices without internet access such as e-Readers.
•
Previously this service was not available on some devices which did not have Adobe Flash
Reader 8.0 or above installed e.g. Ios (iphone, ipad,iTouch) and some Android
smartphones. However, you can now choose to read a book using HTML for mobiles or
tablets, if Flash is not enabled on your device.
Getting started using Public Library Online
1. Log on with your library membership number. (You will need to login using library public
computers.)
2. Browse the themed 'book shelves' (use the arrow on the right to scroll through further
titles).
3. Choose a book.
4. To read the book, select Flash for laptops/desktops or HTML for mobiles/tablets.
5. When you have finished reading, just log off.
Navigating Flash version:
• Use the left-hand index along with the Next Page and Previous Page keys on the top
tool bar to navigate through the book.

The book will appear in single page layout – you can change it to double page by
selecting the Double Page Layout button from the tool bar.
•
Use the magnifying glass icons on the tool bar to increase or decrease the size of the
font.
Navigating HTML version
• Click anywhere on page to move to the next page.
•
When you logout of the service, your place is automatically bookmarked. When you
reconnect to the internet and login you can return to where you last finished reading.
