What is a Digital Recorder or commonly called a DVR?

using a standard web browser.
How do they work?
Our Network camera uses its own IP address and standard network protocols such as TCP/IP to connect directly via DSL, ADSL, modem or wireless network

Common Terms for CCTV
Horizontal Resolution-------------------------------------------------The maximum number of individual picture of elements that can be
distinguished in a single scanning line. Most of our B/W cameras have 420
horizontal lines resolution, and Color cameras have 380 lines resolution.
A.L.C (Automatic Level Control)-----------------------------------This function allows the auto iris circuitry to either take bright spots more
into consideration (peak), bringing out detail in bright areas or less into
consideration (average) bringing out detail in shadows. In another words,
make the image clearer under different light conditions. This function is built
in most of our cameras. It is either built-in ALC or manually switches on.
Infrared (IR)---------------------------------------------------------------A lights which the frequencies lower than visible lights that the CCD camera
can use it for light source, but can not be seen by human eye. It is great
when you need to monitoring a totally darkness area.
Alarm Input---------------------------------------------------------------It is mostly to be used with event VCR to start and stop the recording when
the alarm is triggered. With alarm input function, it allows you to save your
tape. The normal household VCR does not have this function; however, our
Event VCR and Time Lapse VCR has this function.
Lux---------------------------------------------------------------------------A unit measuring the intensity of light. Full Daylight is about 10,000 lux
whereas full moon light is about 0.1 lux. Most of our B/W cameras need only
0.01 lux, and Color Cameras need only 0.5 lux.
Automatic Gain Control (AGC)-------------------------------------An electronic circuit that automatically adjusts the gain of a signal as a
function of its input or other specified parameter. For example, if the video
signal is dark, it will attempt to increase the gain to bring the brightness
up to a normal level.
Multiplexer----------------------------------------------------------------The multiplexer is a video multiplexer that provides viewing and recording
capabilities from as many as 16 channels of video. The multiplexer provides
exceptional picture quality in live and play back modes. It also offers
dramatic cost and space savings over traditional means of viewing and
recording multiple channels of video from several camera sources.
Auto-Iris lens-------------------------------------------------------------The automatic iris lens (mechanical diaphragm) that adjusts automatically to
allow a specific amout of light to be passed to the image sensor. When there
is too much light, the iris lens will close to reduce the amount of light to get
in. On the other hand, when there is little light, the iris lens will open to allow
more light to get in. Auto iris lens are usually used in black where light levels vary.
Microwave----------------------------------------------------------------A very efficient transmission band used for sending video signal or audio
signal VIA wireless. Typical microwave video links use the following
frequencies: 900MHz, 1.2 GHz and 2.4 GHz.
PTZ--------------------------------------------------------------------------PTZ stands for Pan, Tilt and Zoom. A camera comes with this function
allows the camera to move side-to-side, up and down tilting and zoom. It is
great for monitoring a big area. Most of our PTZ cameras have an RS 485
receiver built-in and is compatible with all major protocols.
B.L.C. (Back Light Compensation)--------------------------------Electronically compensates for high background lighting, giving detail to
objects which normally would be silhouetted.
BNC-------------------------------------------------------------------------Commonly use the CCTV industry. The RCA connector is the most
commonly used video connector for plug and play CCTV. It is called a
universal connector. Most of our cameras have RCA connectors
for your convenience.
Quad Processor---------------------------------------------------------Quad processor allows viewing up to four cameras simultaneously on one
screen. It also allows the VCR to record all cameras at the same time. With
a Quad processor, you do not need a camera switcher to change between
camera views. The main advantage of quad processor is while you view one
camera, the others will not be lost.
CCD (Charged Coupled Device)-----------------------------------This is a solid-state semiconductor-imaging device often referred to as an
integrated circuit, chip or "imager". Solid-state cameras are often referred to
as CCD cameras.
White Balance-----------------------------------------------------------The white balance function is for color cameras only. It helps to correct
different color temperature because different lighting sources provide
different color temperatures. With the white balance features, the camera
adjusts the color processing to bring the color temperature to a fixed level.
CCTV------------------------------------------------------------------------It is the abbreviation for Closed Circuit Television, which is a private or
closed television system.
Wireless
Vari-focal Lens----------------------------------------------------------A lens with a variable focal length. It may be used as a wide angle, standard,
or telephoto lens. With the vari-focal lens, you can change the focal length
to zoom in or zoom out. Many different types are available including both
manual and motorized versions.
Electronic Iris (E.I.) Shutter-----------------------------------------Electronic Iris shuttering is the ability of the camera to compensate for
moderate light changes in indoor applications without the use of auto iris
lenses. All of our cameras have this function.
