M96 CARTRIDGE
PART NO. S-70020
NSN: 4240-01-574-9568
This cartridge shall only be used with NIOSH approved
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TECHNOLOGIES systems. The
NIOSH approval label (see reverse) outlines the NIOSH-approved systems, and their components, that may be used with
the M96 Cartridge. Complete maintenance of systems and
operating instructions are detailed in your system’s user
manual.
The restrictions and limitations are outlined on the NIOSH
approval label (see reverse) and must be followed strictly.
Failure to do so may cause severe bodily injury or death.
Pre-Use
Failure to change the cartridges when needed reduces the
user’s protection, comfort, and may cause severe bodily injury or death. Make sure:
1)that the cartridge is appropriate for your application by
checking with your Local Safety Program Administrator
2)verify that the packaging is intact and confirm the following: that the cartridge part number on the wrap-around
label is S-70020, the word NIOSH is apparent, the expiration date date has not been passed
3)verify that the cartridge housing is not damaged. Using
damaged Cartridges may cause contamination to enter the
system and cause serious bodily injury or death;
4)verify that the filter seal for the Facepiece cartridge inlet
or the rubber gasket for the Powered Air Blower Assembly
cartridge port is in place and in good condition, and install/replace if necessary;
5)carefully thread the cartridge into the Facepiece or Powered Air Blower Assembly cartridge inlet until snug.
Storage
This cartridge shall be used as soon as possible after opening. However, the M96 Cartridge has an extended storage
life if stored unopened, out of direct sunlight and in a dry
environment. Note the expiration date on the cartridge body.
S-Special Use Limitations Apply
The IRT M96 Cartridge, when used with the C420 and
FlexAir PAPR Systems, meets NIOSH approval for organic
vapors, ammonia, acid gases (Chlorine, Chlorine Dioxide,
Hydrogen Chloride, Hydrogen Fluoride, Hydrogen Sulfide
and Sulfur Dioxide), Formaldehyde, Methylamine and as an
HE Filter for powered air purifying respirator (PAPR).
The M96 Cartridge, when used with the Promask 2000 full
facepiece and the M95 full facecepiece, meets NIOSH approval for organic vapors, ammonia, acid gases (Chlorine,
Chlorine Dioxide, Hydrogen Chloride, Hydrogen Fluoride,
Hydrogen Sulfide and Sulfur Dioxide), Formaldehyde, Methylamine and as a P100 Filter for an air purifying respirator
(APR).
The C420 PAPR System, Promask 2000 facepiece, M95
facepiece (APRs) and M96 cartridge have been tested at canister levels for Tear Gas (CS & CN) and Phosphine and can
therefore be used as a gas mask for Tear Gas and Phosphine
only.
Disposal
These cartridges MUST be disposed of in strict accordance with local, state and/or federal regulations.
Failure to comply and follow the Disposal, Storage,
Use, Pre-use or Duration instructions as outlined in
these instructions may cause serious bodily injury or
DEATH to oneself or others.
Duration
The cartridge’s duration is determined by the atmosphere
and contaminant in which it is being used.
Refer to your user’s manual for specific details outlining the method of use and your actions.
However, the user:
1) must leave the contaminated area immediately if he/
she notices an increase in resistance or can detect (Taste or
Smell) an odor. The person must then follow the system’s
user manual’s instructions for cartridge changeout;
2)must change the cartridge if exposed to water.
