Problem being checked: a: Solution 1. Unit Not Picking Up: a. Check hoses and attachments for clog b. Change bag c. Check power nozzle (see: number 2.) d. Check main motor (see: number 3.) 2. Power Nozzle Dead/Brush Roll Does Not Spin; but Main Motor Runs: a. Make sure unit switch and handle switch is on. b. If brush is not spinning, check belt and check for any debris on brush. c. If swivel connection is bad, replace dust cover assembly. d. On a DTX1300: Place watt slide on 1300. e. On a DTX1400: Place watt slide on 1400. f. On a DTX1400: If red indicator light illuminates, remove clog and press the red reset button located on back of power nozzle. 3. Main Motor Does Not Run but Power Nozzle Works: a. Check for loose wires from the motor, circuit board, and cord winder. b. Check main motor for failure, if bad, replace motor. c. Check circuit board on the DTX1300 / DTX1400 for failure, if bad, replace board. 4. Both Motors Dead: a. Check cords for failure, if bad, replace cord. b. Check motor for failure, if bad, replace motor. c. On a DTX 1300: Make sure unit is not in park position. d. On a DTX 1300 / DTX1400: Make sure hose is attached to unit. e. On a DTX 1300 / DTX1400: Make sure unit is plugged in and unit switch and handle switch are on. f. On a DTX 1300 / DTX1400: Check circuit board for failure, if bad, replace board. g. Check cord winder for good wire connection. 5. Bag Full Indicator Does Not Work: a. To check bag indicator, block suction. b. Make sure tube is properly plugged into dust chamber and bag indicator. c. Make sure rubber bellows are over both plastic pieces. 6. Hose Falls Out of Unit: a. Check hose lock, if bad, replace hose lock. 7. Cord Will Not Wind Up: a. If they pulled cord out too far then try to rewind. b. If the unit was opened make sure actuator was reinstalled properly. c. Tighten cord winder spring, by holding base and rotating cord winder. An Oreck Authorized Service Center should do all technical servicing.
