For units with a solar panel, install the solar panel using the small #8 screws. This should be done in a space where there is sun. It is suggested that the panel face the southwest, wherever possible. 50. The Covana should now be raised up into the air to ensure everything runs smoothly. 51. Check the hatch position once the cover is in the air. It should appear as shown. If it is not, the Covana needs to be lowered and the escape hatch adjusted. Note: Do not install the panel on the cover or the sleeves as it could cause interference. 48. The key switch should be permanently mounted at least 5' (1.5 m) away from the swim spa and at least 5' (1.5 m) above the ground and in clear view of the Covana. 49. The all-weather seal can be applied to the inner sleeve where it meets the other sleeves. There is a small plastic insert that should be used to keep the seal together. 52. Remove the foam spacers from the spa. 53. Lower the Covana. 54. Attach the sleeve caps using the small #8 screws. Note: The cover must be fully down prior to installation of the all-weather seal. 21 ASSEMBLING THE CS1000 PART III - APPLYING THE SEAL 1. When the complete CS1000 assembly has been performed, lift the roof using the key switch and remove the foam spacers. Lower the roof, walk around the entire swim spa observing where the white inside shell makes contact with the swim spa. This will determine the best location to apply the seal. 2. Ensure the swim spa edge is completely dry. 3. With the roof elevated, apply the seal clips provided to the swim spa in the predetermined area for the seal. The ideal location for the seal is closer to the inside water edge. Note: At this stage, if the ambient air temperature is below 32⁰F (0⁰C) then a temporarily heater should be placed inside the swim spa for 10 to 15 minutes. When the heater is in the swim spa, bring down the roof until it touches the seal to increase the air temperature. After 10 to 15 minutes remove the heater and continue with the seal installation. 4. Install the seal starting at motor end with the adhesive layer pointing up towards the roof. Use the supplied seal connector in both ends of the seal. 5. Test by lowering the roof again to ensure that the seal makes contact with the entire perimeter. If satisfied, elevate the roof, remove the red plastic backing of the seal and lower the roof to the seal. 6. Let the roof rest in this position for two minutes to ensure proper seal to roof adhesion. Important: Now elevate the roof no more than an inch (25.4 mm) and let the roof rest again for a short period as this will allow the seal time to slowly and fully release from the seal clips, if not, a dull tool can be used to help the seal release. 5. Once satisfied that the seal is released, elevate the roof and remove the seal clips from the spa edge. 6. Lower the roof and verify again for proper seal. The procedure consists of two (2) simple steps: Control circuitry initialization to zero (0) and initialization to zero (0) of the posts. Step # 1: Control Circuitry Initialization to Zero (0). 1. Unplug both motors at the control box location so that the posts will be disabled. Do not unplug any other connectors. See figure # 1 for motors connector location. Figure 1 Power Motors 23 POSTS POSITION INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE 2. Using the key switch (see figure # 2), execute the following steps without interrupting the sequence during execution. Turn and hold the key switch in the lower position between 8-10 seconds. Release the key switch and immediately cycle it between 8-10 times in the lower position in 15 seconds maximum. Wait for 10 seconds. Figure 2 Posts deactivation sequence: 8 to 10 seconds + 8 to 10 cycles + 10 seconds wait 24 POSTS POSITION INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE Step # 2: Initialization to zero (0) of the posts. Warning: The roof will not stop if you attempt to go higher than the maximal height that was originally set by default. 1 At this point, the control circuitry does not take the encoder positions anymore and you can then plug one or both motors to correct the problematic situation such as: bring down one or both posts to the bottom (zero position) reinitialize the system if both posts are at zero (0) 2. If both motors were not connected at this point, reconnect the motor(s). 3. Ensure that both motors are at their lowest point and that the cover is sitting uniformly on the swim spa and the posts are at the same height. 4. Unplug the power connector to the control box (see figure # 1 for connector location). Wait a minimum of 30 seconds before reconnecting the power to the Covana. This completes the initialization of the control circuitry, posts height adjustment, reset of upper and lower limits. 25 ARTICLE CODE 210387 211176 209812 ITEM 1 2 3 1 2 4 COV-CS1000-SOLAR PANEL MOUNT BRACKET #10-12 X 3/4 (PAN HEAD PHILLIPS #2-SS 18-8) SELF TAP QTY SOLAR PANEL 24 V—10 W DESCRIPTION OPTIONAL - SOLAR PANEL 26 WIRING & SCHEMATIC 27 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION Ensure that the battery is connected to the correct spot (side of the box).
