Dear Colleague,
Advertising and Industry Survey
The Economics and Politics Department at Nottingham Trent University is carrying out
a survey of advertising by UK firms. The survey is part of a research project funded by
the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and its purpose is to gain a greater
understanding of advertising practices in the UK.
Your firm has been selected to take part in the survey. I hope very much that you will
be willing to participate. If so, I would be grateful if you would complete the enclosed
questionnaire and return it in the pre-paid SAE. We appreciate that your time is
precious and the survey has been designed to take no more than ten minutes. If you
would prefer to complete an electronic version of the questionnaire, please send an Email to [email protected].
If you do not wish to take part in the survey, it would be appreciated if you could
return the uncompleted questionnaire.
Any information you provide will be treated as confidential. A copy of the final data set
will be deposited with the ESRC, but will only be used for research purposes authorised
by the survey co-ordinators. In no circumstances will your company be identified in
any published work. At the end of the project, a summary report will be available to
participants. If you would like to receive a copy of this, please tick the appropriate box
on the questionnaire.
I do hope that you will be able to assist with this survey. Its success depends on the
number of completed questionnaires that are returned. If you have any further
questions please feel free to contact Neil Conant, on the number below.
Yours faithfully,
David Paton (Dr)
