Adding pictures to places on the map (Windows XP) 1. Create a new folder in Windows Explorer and copy your photos into it. 2. The photos can be in JPG, BMP or TIF format. You can take pictures with a digital camera, or ask for a CD when you have a film developed. 3. Open the AEGIS worksheet with the map to which you wish to add your photos. Save this worksheet in the folder in which you have copied your photos. 4. Amend the Data Structure to add a Picture Box. Click on the Data Table, then choose Data, Define fields. Add a new field called Photos with the Data type - Picture You can add pictures to any type of map. When you close this Dialogue Box and return to the Data Table, you will not see the Picture Field on the table. An empty picture box appears on the screen. 5. Now comes the clever bit. Click on a place on the map (a seed) for which you have a photo in the folder you have made. Now go into My Computer and click once on the photo’s file name. Repeat the process to place a photo at each of the seeds on the map. Press and drag the file onto the minimised AEGIS program on the bottom bar on the screen. Do not release the mouse button until you have now dragged the photo into the Picture Box on the AEGIS worksheet. 6. Check that the picture changes when you click on different seeds on the map. If you find a picture in the wrong location, just replace it with the correct one. 7. Save your worksheet again in the folder with the photos. The pictures remain separate from the AEGIS document, so copy the whole folder if you want to use the document elsewhere.
