Aprogrammableroomthermostatisbothaprogrammer andaroomthermostat.Aprogrammerallowsyoutoset “On”and“Off”timeperiodstosuityourownlifestyle.A roomthermostatworksbysensingtheairtemperature, switchingontheheatingwhentheairtemperaturefalls belowthethermostatsetting,andswitchingitoffoncethis settemperaturehasbeenreached. So,aprogrammableroomthermostatletsyouchoosewhat timesyouwanttheheatingtobeon,andwhattemperature itshouldreachwhileitison.Itwillallowyoutoselect differenttemperaturesinyourhomeatdifferenttimesofthe day(anddaysoftheweek)tomeetyourparticularneeds. Turningaprogrammableroomthermostattoahighersetting willnotmaketheroomheatupanyfaster.Howquickly theroomheatsupdependsonthedesignoftheheating system,forexample,thesizeoftheboilerandradiators. Neitherdoesthesettingaffecthowquicklytheroomcools down.Turningaprogrammableroomthermostattoalower 2 settingwillresultintheroombeingcontrolledatalower temperature,andsavesenergy. Thewaytosetanduseyourprogrammableroom thermostatistoindthelowesttemperaturesettingsthat youarecomfortablewithatthedifferenttimesyouhave chosen,andthenleaveitalonetodoitsjob. Thebestwaytodothisistosetlowtemperaturesirst,say 18ºC,andthenturnthemupbyonedegreeeachdayuntil youarecomfortablewiththetemperatures.Youwon’thave toadjustthethermostatfurther.Anyadjustmentabove thesesettingwillwasteenergyandcostyoumoremoney. Ifyourheatingsystemisaboilerwithradiators,there willusuallybeonlyoneprogrammableroomthermostat tocontrolthewholehouse.Butyoucanhavedifferent temperaturesinindividualroomsbyinstallingthermostatic radiatorvalves(TRVs)onindividualradiators.Ifyoudon’t haveTRVs,youshouldchooseatemperaturethatis reasonableforthewholehouse.IfyoudohaveTRVs,you canchooseaslightlyhighersettingtomakesurethat 3 eventhecoldestroomiscomfortable,thenpreventany overheatinginotherroomsbyadjustingtheTRVs. Thetimeontheprogrammermustbecorrect.Sometypes havetobeadjustedinspringandautumnatthechanges betweenGreenwichMeanTimeandBritishSummerTime. Youmaybeabletotemporarilyadjusttheheating programme,forexample,“Override”,“Advance”or“Boost”. Theseareexplainedinthemanufacturer’sinstructions. Programmableroomthermostatsneedafreelowofair tosensethetemperature,sotheymustnotbecovered bycurtainsorblockedbyfurniture.Nearbyelectricires, televisions,wallortablelampsmaypreventthethermostat fromworkingproperly. 4 Display Symbols Explained Symbol Description Heat On Icon Shown when the heating is On Flashing when the optimum start is in operation. Frost On Icon (Heating Off) Shown when the heating is switched off and is protecting against frost only Keylock Icon Shown when the keypad is locked 5 Installation Procedure DO’s 1. Installation Thethermostatisdesignedtobelushmount,aback boxof35mmshouldhavebeensunkinthewallpriorto installation. Step1 Carefullyseparatethefronthalfofthethermostatfromthe backplatebyplacingasmalllatheadterminaldriverinto theslotsonthebottomfaceofthethermostat. 6 Step2 Carefullyunplugtheribbonconnectorwhichispluggedinto thefronthalfofthethermostat. Placethethermostatfronthalfsomewheresafe. Terminatethethermostatasshowninthediagramsatthe backofthisbooklet. Screwthethermostatbackplateontothebackbox. Whenactivated,youwillsee. Tocancel,repeatthestepsabove. Temperature Override Usingthekeysallowsyoutoadjusttheset temperature.Whenyoupresseitherofthesekeys,youwill seethewordSETandthedesiredtemperature.PressDone toaccept. Note:Youshouldnotethatthisnewtemperatureis maintainedonlyuntilthenextprogrammedcomfortlevel.At thistime,thethermostatwillrevertbacktotheprogrammed levels. 12 Temperature Hold TheTemperatureHoldfunctionisidealforpartiesorwhen youwillbegoingoutforanumberofhours.Itallowsyouto holdatemperatureforadesiredperiod. • • • • PressHOLD. TocancelaHoldtime,reducethetimeto00.00. 13 Holiday TheHolidayfunctionreducesthesettemperatureinyour hometothefrosttemperaturesetting.Thethermostatwill maintainthistemperatureforthedurationoftheholidayand willthenautomaticallyreturntotheprogrammodeonyour return. AssumeyouprogramaholidayonMondayfor1day,the holidaywillstartimmediately,butthethermostatwillcount thenextday(Tuesday)astheholiday.Thethermostatwill thenrevertbacktoitsprogramatMidnightTuesday. • • • • PressHOLIDAY. Thermostat Off:Toturnthethermostatoffcompletely, pressandholdtheOffbutton.Thedisplayandheating outputwillbeturnedoff.Toturnthethermostatbackon, presstheOnbutton. Clean Screen PressingCleanScreenwilldisableallbuttons,allowingyou 30secondstowipethescreenclean. 15 Factory Reset Thethermostathasafactoryresetfunction.Thiswillreset allsettingsbacktotheirfactorydefault. Toperformafactoryreset,followthesesteps: Turnoffthethermostatbypressingtheoffbutton.Press andholdthebottomleftcorneroftheLCDfor10seconds. Youwillseealltheiconsappearfor2secondsandthen disappear.Thethermostathasthenbeenresettothe factorydefaults. 16 THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS ARE OPTIONAL AND IN MOST CASES NEED NOT BE ADJUSTED Optional Features Explained Feature 01 – Temperature Format:Thisfunctionallows youtoselectbetween°Cor°F. Feature 02 - Switching Differential:Thisfunctionallows youtoincreasetheswitchingdifferentialofthethermostat. Thedefaultis1°Cwhichmeansthethermostatwillswitch theheatingon0.5°Cbelowthesettemperatureandwill turnitoff0.5°Cabovethesettemperature.Witha2°C differential,theheatingwillswitchon1.5°Cbelowthe settemperatureandwillswitchoff0.5°Cabovetheset temperature. Feature 03 - Frost Protect:Youcansetwhetherthe thermostatwillmaintainthefrosttemperaturewhen thethermostatdisplayisturnedoff.Asadefault,thisis enabled. 17 Feature 04 – Frost Protect Temperature:Thisisthe temperaturemaintainedwhenthethermostatisinfrost mode.Therangeis07-17°C.Thedefaultis12°Candis suitableforalmostallapplications. Feature 05 – Output Delay:Topreventrapidswitching,an outputdelaycanbeentered.Thiscanbesetfrom00-15 minutes.Thedefaultis00whichmeansthereisnodelay. Feature 06 – Communication Address:Thissetting isusedwhenyouhaveconnectedyourthermostattoa networksystem.Eachthermostatonthenetworkmusthave auniquecommunicationaddress.Thiscanbesetfrom 01-32. Feature 07 – Temperature Up/Down Limit:Thisfunction allowsyoutolimittheuseoftheupanddowntemperature arrowkeys.Thislimitisalsoapplicablewhenthethermostat islockedandsoallowsyoutogiveotherslimitedcontrol overtheheatingsystem. Feature 08 – Air Sensor Selection:Thisthermostatuses theinternalsensorandcannotbeadjusted. 18 Feature 09 – Floor Limit Sensor:Thisfunctionisnot changeableonthismodel.
