Mark matching engine parts (connecting rod and cap, main bearing cap,
bearing shells).
Cleaning the engine parts
Dirt causes most bearing failures;
therefore, be particularly careful when
cleaning the engine parts.
When cleaning manually, make sure
that the solvent and the cleaning instrument are clean. Be particularly careful with all parts in the oil circuit (oil
pump with housing, screen and filter,
oil pan, oil cooler, etc.) and canals in
the engine block and the crankshaft.
