6.5 Experiments Use this command to see, hear and experiment with the electrical scenarios included in the program. If you have already opened a set of experiments (File.Open Experiment Set), you can choose a particular experiment from several topics. Once an experiment is selected, Edison will load the appropriate circuit and sound file. Then you can follow the audible instructions or the on-screen comments, or just start experimenting on your own. 6.6 Problems Use this command to solve problems and trouble-shoot circuits provided with the program. If you have already opened a problem set (File.Open Problem Set), you can choose from several tasks. Generally, you have to find the faulty component or type in the correct value. When you think you have found the faulty component, you can repair it by activating the Repair command. Use the screwdriver to point to the presumably faulty component. If you have found the faulty component, Edison will reward you with applause and you will get the highest score; if you are wrong, you’ll hear a disapproving sound. In this case, you can go on repairing the components one by one, but each wrong attempt will reduce your score. If the program prompts you to type in a value (a value which would be displayed by a meter if there were no fault) and you are right on the first trial, Edison will applaud you and give you the highest score. Edison will play an unpleasant sound if you are wrong. Although Edison always applauds you when you give the right answer, it reduces your score or sets it to zero after multiple trials. 6.7 Help You can activate Edison’s help system with this command. 6.7.1 Contents By selecting this menu item, or by pressing F1, you will jump to the help system.
