PREPARATION
Thoroughlyinspectthe areawherethe equipmentisto beused.Removeall
doormats,newspapers,
sleds,boards,wiresandotherforeignobjects,which
couldbetrippedoveror thrownbythe auger/impeller.
Safe Handling
of Gasoline:
Toavoid personalinjuryor property damageuseextreme carein handling
gasoline.Gasolineisextremely flammable andthe vaporsareexplosive.
Seriouspersonalinjurycan occurwhen gasolineis spilledon yourselfor your
clotheswhich canignite. Washyourskinandchangeclothesimmediately.
Useonlyanapprovedgasolinecontainer.
Extinguishall cigarettes,cigars,pipesandothersourcesofignition.
Neverfuel machineindoors.
Neverremovegascapor addfuel whilethe engineishot or running.
Allowengineto coolat leasttwo minutesbeforerefueling.
Neveroverfillfuel tank.Filltankto nomorethan1/2inchbelowbottomof
filler neckto providespaceforfuel expansion.
Replace
gasolinecapandtightensecurely.
Ifgasolineisspilled,wipeit off the engineandequipment.Movemachineto
anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestartingtheengine.
Neverstorethe machineor fuel containerinsidewherethereisanopen
flame,sparkor pilot light (e.g.furnace,waterheater,spaceheater,clothes
dryeretc.).
Allow machineto coolat least5 minutesbeforestoring.
Alwayswearsafetyglassesor eyeshieldsduringoperationandwhile

Ifpossible,removegas-powered
equipmentfromthe truckor trailerand
refuelit on theground.Ifthis isnot possible,then refuelsuchequipment
on atrailerwith a portablecontainer,ratherthanfromagasolinedispenser
nozzle.
Usea groundedthree-wkeextensioncordandreceptacleforall machines
with electricstartengines.
Disengage
all controlleversbeforestartingthe engine.
Neverattemptto makeanyadjustmentswhileengineisrunning,except
wherespecificallyrecommended
inthe operator'smanual.
Letengineandmachineadjustto outdoortemperaturebeforestartingto
clearsnow.
Keepthe nozzleincontactwith the rim ofthe fuel tankor containeropening
at all timesuntil fuelingiscomplete.Donot usea nozzlelock-opendevice.
OPERATION
CLEARING
A CLOGGED
DISCHARGE
CHUTE
Donot put handsor feetnearrotatingparts,inthe auger/impellerhousing
or chuteassembly.
Contactwith the rotatingpartscanamputatehandsand
feet.
Handcontactwith the rotatingimpellerinsidethe dischargechuteisthe most
commoncauseof injuryassociated
with snowthrowers.Neveruseyourhandto
cleanout the dischargechute.
Theauger/impellercontrolleverisasafetydevice.Neverbypassitsoperation.
Doingsomakesthe machineunsafeandmaycausepersonalinjury.
Toclearthe chute:
a.
SHUTTHEENGINE
OFF!
Thecontrolleversmustoperateeasilyin bothdirectionsandautomatically
returnto the disengagedpositionwhenreleased.
b.
Wait 10secondsto besurethe impellerbladeshavestopped
rotating.
Neveroperatewith amissingor damagedchuteassembly.Keepall safety
devicesin placeandworking.
c.
Alwaysuseaclean-outtool, not yourhands.
MAINTENANCE
Neverrunanengineindoorsor inapoorlyventilatedarea.Engineexhaust
containscarbonmonoxide,anodorlessanddeadlygas.
& STORAGE
Nevertamperwith safetydevices.Checktheirproperoperationregularly.
Referto the maintenanceandadjustmentsectionsof thismanual.
Donot operatemachinewhileunderthe influence
of alcoholor drugs.
Beforecleaning,repairing,or inspecting
machinedisengageall control
leversandstopthe engine.Waituntil the auger/impellercometo acomplete
stop.Disconnect
the sparkplugwire andgroundagainstthe engineto
preventunintendedstarting.
Mufflerandenginebecomehot andcancauseaburn.Donot touch.Keep
childrenaway.
Exercise
extremecautionwhenoperatingonor crossinggravelsurfaces.Stay
alertforhiddenhazardsor traffic.
Check
boltsandscrewsforpropertightness
atfrequentintervals
to keepthe
machine
insafeworkingcondition.
Also,visuallyinspectmachine
foranydamage.
Exercise
cautionwhenchangingdirectionandwhileoperatingonslopes.
Planyoursnow-throwingpatternto avoiddischargetowardswindows,
walls,carsetc.Thus,avoidingpossiblepropertydamageor personalinjury
causedbyaricochet.
Donot changethe enginegovernorsettingor over-speed
the engine.The
governorcontrolsthe maximumsafeoperatingspeedof the engine.
Snowthrowershaveplatesandskidshoesaresubjectto wearanddamage.
Foryoursafetyprotection,frequentlycheckall componentsandreplace

planningyoursnowthrowingpatternto avoiddischargetowardswindows,

Donot overloadmachinecapacitybyattemptingto clearsnowat too fastof
arate.
Checkcontrolleversperiodicallyto verifythey engageanddisengage
properlyandadjust,if necessary.
Referto the adjustmentsectioninthis
operator'smanualfor instructions.
Neveroperatethismachinewithoutgoodvisibilityor light. Alwaysbesureof
yourfootingandkeepafirm holdon the handles.Walk,neverrun.
Disengage
powerto the auger/impellerwhen transportingor not in use.
Maintainor replacesafetyandinstructionlabels,asnecessary.
Neveroperatemachineat hightransportspeedsonslipperysurfaces.Look
downandbehindandusecarewhenbackingup.
Observe
properdisposallawsandregulationsforgas,oil,etc.to protectthe
environment.
If the machineshouldstartto vibrateabnormally,stopthe engine,
disconnectthe sparkplugwire andgrounditagainstthe engine.Inspect
thoroughlyfordamage.Repairanydamagebeforestartingandoperating.
Priorto storing,runmachineafewminutesto clearsnowfrom machineand
preventfreezeupof auger/impeller.
Disengage
all controlleversandstopenginebeforeyouleavetheoperating
position(behindthe handles).Waituntil the auger/impellercomesto
acompletestopbeforeuncloggingthe chuteassembly,
makingany
adjustments,or inspections.
Neverstorethe machineor fuelcontainerinsidewherethereisanopen
flame,sparkor pilot light suchasa waterheater,furnace,clothesdryeretc.
Neverput yourhandin the dischargeor collectoropenings.Donot unclog
chuteassemblywhileengineisrunning.Shutoff engineandremainbehind
handlesuntil all movingpartshavestoppedbeforeunclogging.
Checkfuel line,tank,cap,andfittings frequentlyforcracksor leaks.Replace
if necessary.
Useonlyattachmentsandaccessories
approvedbythe manufacturer(e.g.
wheelweights,tire chains,cabsetc.).

tooperate on regularunleadedgasoline,and mayincludethe following
emissioncontrol systems:EngineModification (EM),OxidizingCatalyst(0C),
SecondaryAir injection(SAI)andThreeWayCatalyst(TWC)if soequipped.
SPARK ARRESTOR
Thismachineisequippedwith an internalcombustionengine andshould
not be usedon or near any unimprovedforest-covered,brushcoveredor
grass-coveredland unlessthe engine'sexhaustsystemisequippedwith a
sparkarrestormeetingapplicable localor state laws (if any).
Ira sparkarrestorisused,it shouldbe maintained in effective working order

AugerControl
Before Starting the Engine
Locatedonthe upperhandle,the augercontrolhandleisusedto engageand
disengagedriveto the auger.Squeeze
the controlhandleagainstthe upperhandle
to engagethe auger;releaseit to disengage.
Read,understandandfollow all the instructions
andwarnings onthe
machineand inthis manualbeforeoperating.
ChuteAssembly
Starting The Engine
Rotatethe dischargechuteto the left or right usingthe controlhandle.Thepitch
of thedischargechutecontrolsthe angleat whichthe snowisthrown.Loosenthe
wingknobon the sideof the dischargechutebeforepivotingthe dischargechute
upwardor downward.Retightenthe knoboncethe desiredpositionhasbeen
achieved.
Alwayskeepbandsandfeet clearof moving parts.Donot usea pressurized
starting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.
ShavePlate
Theshaveplatemaintainscontactwith the pavementasthe snowthroweris
propelled,allowingsnowcloseto the pavement'ssurfaceto bedischarged.
Toavoidcarbonmonoxidepoisoning,makesurethe engine isoutdoorsin a
well-ventilated area.
ElectricStarter Outlet
