Defrosting This refrigeratorisequippedwitha "PushButton"(semi-automatic) defrostthermostatsystemwhichmeansno needto unplugthe refrigeratorand no needto changethetemperaturesettingbefore initiatingthedefrostcycle. Beforestartingthedefrostcyclemakesure; 1.the defrosttray is properlypositioneddiredly belowthe freezercompartment. 2.the defrosttray bafflelocatedinsidethe defrosttray (at rear)is in the openposition.(fullyextended) Thishelpsto directdefrostwaterrunningoff the backof thefreezercompartmentintothe defrosttray. 3.the draincap issecurelyattachedto the defrosttray drain.(undersideofthe tray) Toactivatethe defrostcycle,simplypush(in)the"red"defrostbutton locatedin the centerof thecontrolknob/dial.(thereis no needtoturn the controldial/knobto 0 = off position) Thedefrostcyclestarts immediately whenthe red defrostbuttonisactivated(pushed-in) The defrostwateraccumulatesinsidethe defrosttray.Whendefrostingis complete,the "red"defrostbuttonwill release(pop-out)automatically and resumenormaloperating(cooling)conditions. Todisposeof the accumulated waterfromthe defrosttray,position the clearplasticstoragebin (upperdoorshelf)diredlyunderthe defrosttraydrainopeningand unscrewthe draincapallowingthe waterto flowintothecontainer.Replacethedraincapwhenthetray iscompletelyempty.Disposeofthe defrostwater. NOTE:If the red pushbutton(defrostcycle)is "accidentally" activated,itwill not be possibleto "manually"pull-outthe pushbutton to stopthe defrostcycle.Youmusteitherletthedefrostcyclerun it's courseor; 1.Apply(hold)a dishclothsoakedin hotwateragainstthethermostat capillarylineand bracket,locatedonthe undersideofthe freezer compartment.Theheattransferfromthedishclothwillcausea temperatureriseon thethermostatcapillary,(sensingline)causing the internalcontactsof thethermostatto closeandresumenormal operatingconditions.It maytakeseveralminutesand/orrepeat applicationsbeforethedefrostbuttonwill release. Defrostingof yourrefrigeratorshouldtake placewheneverthe ice build-up(accumulation) insidethefreezercompartmentreachesa thicknessof 114"(6ram).Defrostingmaytakea few hours,depending on the amountof accumulatediceandambientindoortemperature. Tospeed-upthedefrostingprocess,removeall frozenfoodsfromthe freezersection.Leavingthe doorpartiallyajar fora shortperiodof timewill alsoacceleratethe process. IMPORTANT: Youmustrememberto closethe refrigeratordoor beforethedefrostcycleterminatesand normaloperatingconditions resumeautomatically. IMPORTANT NOTICE:Neverusesharpor pointedinstrumentsto defrost/remove icefromthe evaporator/freezer compartment.The evaporator/freezer compartment containsrefrigeratedgaslinesand if punched/pierced, willrenderthe refrigeratorinoperableand "void"the manufacturers warranty. DO NOTALLOW THE REFRIGERATOR TOCONTINUE OPERATION IF THEEVAPORATOR/FREEZER COMPARTMENT IS ACCIDENTALLY PIERCED.UNPLUGTHEPOWERCORDAND CALLFORSERVICEIMMEDIATELY.
