in the BMW X6. The virtually 50 : 50 axle load distribution, in particular, creates optimum conditions for outstanding driving dynamics and conjures up
that incomparable feeling at the wheel of this car. The optional active chassis control system Adaptive Drive uses Servotronic to optimise steering
forces during normal and dynamic driving. It also increases the stability of the BMW X6 by significantly minimising pitch and roll and adapting the
chassis damping to variations in the road surface. And the optional Active Steering adapts the steering ratio to the car’s speed – for greater precision

the BMW Group has been able to reduce the CO emissions of its European new-vehicle ﬂ eet by

The BMW i brand will launch completely new vehicle concepts for sustainable mobility in an

Vision becomes reality. The BMW Vision Efﬁ cientDynamics underscores the position of
BMW as the world’s leading manufacturer of exceptionally sporty yet incomparably efﬁ cient
vehicles. The BMW Vision Efﬁ cientDynamics features advanced plug-in hybrid technology
with a system output of    kW (   hp). This ensures sports car-level performance

Air vent control.
Engine management signals the engine’s current cooling requirements while driving, rendering
a permanent airstream through the radiator unnecessary. The air vents in front of the radiator
open or close depending on the outside temperature and road speed. When shut they improve
aerodynamics, shorten the engine’s warm-up time and so reduce fuel consumption.

Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance.
When a car is being driven, its tyres are constantly changing shape. This uses up energy and thus
fuel. Tyres with reduced rolling-resistance have an improved design and use special materials for
their road treads and side walls, therefore reducing deformation.
Brake Energy Regeneration.
To supply a battery with electrical energy, the generator (alternator) is permanently driven using
engine power, which demands additional fuel consumption. Brake Energy Regeneration means
the generator usually only creates electricity when the driver either takes his foot off the accelerator
or applies the brakes – previously unused kinetic energy is transformed in coasting mode into
electrical energy before being fed into the battery. In this way, electricity is generated while
coasting, without consuming fuel.

SIX CYLINDERS. TWIN POWER TURBOCHARGER.
ONE UNIQUE FEELING.
With its powerful BMW TwinTurbo six-cylinder in-line engine, and the combination of a TwinScroll turbocharger, Valvetronic, Double
VANOS and High Precision Injection, the X6 xDrive35i sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. Instant responses, refinement and
smoothness, plus torque of 400 Nm, are the stand-out features of this powerplant with 225 kW (306 hp) and displacement of 3.0 litres.
It’s also an intelligent technology package that significantly reduces fuel consumpion, delivering an average of 10.1 litres per 100 km.
The engines for the BMW X6 are not only among the sportiest in the world, thanks to a host of innovative technologies such as the
TwinPower turbocharger, they are also some of the most efficient due to features including Brake Energy Regeneration. It all makes for
greater output and lower fuel consumption.

engine with High Precision Injection has two turbochargers compactly

refinement provide undiluted driving pleasure. Breathtaking acceleration
figures and a rousing soundtrack define the V8 engine with BMW TwinPower
Turbo in the X6 xDrive50i. The immediately responsive powerplant,
which combines two turbochargers, Double VANOS and High Precision
Injection, requires just 5.4 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. It
develops output of 300 kW (407 hp) from its 4.4-litre displacement and
delivers impressive torque of 600 Nm as low down as 1,750 rpm,

BMW diesel engines impress with their incomparable performance while making extremely efficient use of fuel.
Take the BMW X6 xDrive40d with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. This is one of the world’s sportiest diesels,
bringing supreme, unadulterated power to the road. It takes the BMW from a standstill to the 100 km/h mark in only
6.5 seconds. The 3.0-litre engine’s remarkably spirited nature comes from 225 kW (306 hp) and peak torque of
600 Nm. It also delivers average fuel economy of 7.5 l/100 km.

The powerful six-cylinder diesel engine with a 3.0-litre
displacement in the X6 xDrive30d combines efficiency and
power to impressive effect. Torque of 540 Nm as low down as
1,750 rpm and 180 kW (245 hp) of output enable acceleration of
0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The four-valve cylinder head and
turbocharger with adjustable blades ensure optimum fuel supply
to the cylinders and thus particularly efficient fuel combustion.
Indeed, average fuel consumption works out at an economical
7.4 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 195 g/km.

Variable Twin Turbo technology of the BMW X6 xDrive40d uses two
turbochargers of differing sizes in sequence to develop spontaneous
power across the entire rev band. At low revs, the smaller turbocharger
works alone, while the larger one ensures top performance up to the
maximum engine speed.
Outstanding power: the BMW X6 xDrive40d reaches its peak torque
of 600 Nm at only 1,500 rpm. The engine provides impressive thrust
across the whole rev range.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X is the world’s first Sport Activity coupé with a hybrid drive system. It unites exemplary
efficiency with hallmark BMW dynamics and driving pleasure. The combination of a combustion engine and an electric
unit with storage battery allows for particularly efficient energy management. BMW ActiveHybrid combines this technology
with typical BMW driving characteristics. The upshot is a hybrid combining low fuel consumption with impressive
performance data – a true BMW, in other words. The advantages of an electric motor – maximum torque readily available
from low engine speeds, for example – perfectly complement the dynamics and efficiency of BMW combustion engines.
As well as reduced fuel consumption, the BMW-specific interpretation of hybrid technology also makes itself felt in
something unmistakable: it is the most dynamic among the hybrids. The BMW ActiveHybrid X has two electric units that
power the vehicle together with the combustion engine. At speeds of up to   km/h, the BMW ActiveHybrid X can run on
energy from the high-performance battery. This offers the potential for maximum cuts in fuel consumption and emissions
without restricting driving pleasure in any way.


YOU KNOW WHAT A HYBRID IS. YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT BMW MAKES OF IT.
ARGUABLY THE BEST BRAKING POWER GENERATOR. The principle of Brake Energy Regeneration
is as simple as it is intelligent. Each time you apply the brakes, kinetic energy is released which, in
the ActiveHybrid models, is stored in a high-performance battery. It can then be reused by the drive
system. This saves fuel while also ensuring that the energy gained from a braking action is not lost
and can be used at any time to enhance overall output.
BMW ACTIVE HYBRID. ACCELERATES ACCELERATION. Perfect proof that enhanced efficiency
can go hand in hand with maximum driving pleasure is provided by the boost function in the
BMW ActiveHybrid models. It is based on the idea of the electric unit giving a temporary but significant
boost to the combustion engine’s output. A key advantage of this technology is that it allows very
spontaneous and powerful output. It comes into its own particularly when moving off and during
acceleration and overtaking. In this way, the car’s performance is significantly enhanced without
consuming extra fuel. It can only be a good thing when helping the sustainability cause brings so
much pleasure.
EXPERIENCE STILLNESS. WITHOUT STANDING STILL. At speeds of up to 񂢕 񂢔 km/h, the
BMW ActiveHybrid X񂢕 is able to run on electric power for brief periods. At 񂢕 񂢙 km/h, the distance
is up to 񂢑 .񂢔 km. This occurs automatically and allows you to drive almost noiselessly and,
above all, totally emission-free. An intelligent operating strategy controls the interplay of the
combustion engine and the hybrid drive system, thus ensuring maximum efficiency and power
at all times. You can hardly experience more serene driving pleasure than that.
INTELLIGENT ENERGY MANAGEMENT STARTS BEFORE YOU MOVE OFF. The BMW ActiveHybrid
X񂢕 is one of the first BMW models with an automatic transmission to feature an engine Start/Stop
function. Every time you come to a standstill in a BMW ActiveHybrid model you actively save fuel thanks
to the Hybrid Start/Stop function. That’s because the engine switches off when the car is stationary.
This cuts fuel consumption and emissions, above all in urban traffic. That way you do your fuel bills and
the environment a favour.
Battery: the space-saving, high-performance nickel-metal hydride battery stored under the
luggage compartment is fully suited for everyday use while leaving enough room to transport
up to four golf bags, as in the conventional BMW X񂢕 .

Electric air conditioning compressor: the electric drive of the air conditioning system is
independent of the combustion engine, which means a pleasant climate can be created even
when driving on electric power alone and at standstill when the engine is switched off.

Two-mode active transmission: this controls the interplay of the electric motor and
the combustion engine. Mode 񂢐 is available for starting off and mode 񂢑 is optimised for
higher speeds. Configuration as a 񂢖 -speed automatic transmission ensures a typical
BMW driving experience, while manual gear changes can be carried out using the
gearshift paddles on the steering wheel.
Two electric motors: these take over the function of starting the engine and back up the
combustion engine as required in order to enhance driving dynamics. During Brake Energy
Regeneration, the electric motors act as generators.

more drive is sent to the rear wheel with better grip even when driving straight ahead. This results

Performance Control allows you to enjoy the power of this car in any situation.
Start
More agile, more precise, and safer: Dynamic Performance Control1, which celebrates its world
premiere in the BMW X6, defines a new standard for sporty driving pleasure. Extremely high directional
stability and flawless handling are the fruits of this technology. This is noticeable through corners
in particular. Here it gives the BMW X6 appreciably greater agility. Dynamic Performance Control
distributes drive flexibly between the rear wheels. In bends, the system channels more drive through
the outer rear wheel – effectively pushing the car into the corner. The BMW therefore follows the
path of the road accurately and offers incredibly precise handling. According to the driving situation,
a greater proportion of torque is diverted efficiently to the wheel that can transfer most drive to the
road. This allows any interventions from the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system – which were
CORNERS CANNOT BE CHANGED.

In a right-hand corner, the left rear wheel
can transfer more power to the road, so

steering manoeuvre with greater control
and precision, but you will also enjoy a
palpable increase in sportiness because
this system actively distributes drive –
resulting in optimal driving dynamics.
The meticulously tuned chassis and intelligent four-wheel-drive system xDrive allow you to enjoy
dynamic driving pleasure in any situation. It’s a similar story with optional Active Steering2. This
ensures greater cornering enjoyment by enabling even more direct and precise steering – and
greater agility on twisty sections of road in particular. Moreover, it lets you enjoy better tracking
stability. A planetary gear set integrated into the steering column varies the steering angle according
to the car’s speed. At low and moderate speeds, the angle of the front wheels is increased – an
advantage that also makes parking noticeably easier. When the steering wheel is turned by the same
amount at high speeds, the steering angle is smaller and the BMW X6 remains precisely on track.
At low to medium speeds, Active Steering
transmits steering input more directly. The
response is very precise, making the BMW
agile and manoeuvrable.
Greater agility is also provided by the optionally available Adaptive Drive system. This uses
Servotronic to optimize steering forces during normal and dynamic driving and combines the two
active chassis control systems Dynamic Damping Control and Dynamic Drive. These feature
active stabilisers on the front and rear axles with integral hydraulic elements, which reduce roll to
a minimum through corners. Plus, the dampers automatically reduce pitching movements in
the BMW X6 – under braking, for example. The effect will put a smile on the face of not only the
driver but each rear passenger, too, because they also benefit from the extraordinary level of
stability and high comfort.
At higher speeds, the steering ratio is less
direct. This ensures, for instance, precise
tracking stability on the motorway, making
for especially safe steering movements.



The optional Adaptive Headlights register when you are turning into a bend or driving
through hollows or over crests. The swivelling and vertically adjustable headlights follow
the direction of steering and optimally illuminate the line of the curve.
The high-strength steel passenger cell offers optimum rigidity and protection. It boasts
additional reinforcement in critical areas for maximum safety. In the event of a collision,
continuous headairbags, a driver and front passenger airbag and two side airbags in the
front minimise the risk of injury.

provide optimum illumination of corners as soon as you steer into them. Sensors record the steering
angle, yaw rate and speed. Electric motors then turn the Xenon headlights as required, providing
better illumination of the full corner. In addition, when driving through hollows or over crests, the beam
is automatically adjusted vertically. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system also guarantees
unencumbered driving pleasure. DSC recognises unstable driving situations at the outset and
corrects them through targeted intervention in the engine and brake management systems. In the
event of emergency braking, you will be backed up by the Brake Assistant. This recognises the
situation and ensures that brake pressure is built up extremely rapidly – if necessary as far as the ABS
control range. This significantly shortens the stopping distance.
You can add to that a raft of developments that protect you from injury in a collision. The use of highstrength multi-phase steels has allowed our engineers to create an extremely stable passenger cell
offering occupants exceptional safety in an impact. In a frontal collision, a pre-defined deformation
area converts impact energy into deformation before it reaches the passenger cell. In a rear impact,
the strengthened body also enhances safety, as numerous crash tests have confirmed. High-strength
structural reinforcement has been integrated into all four doors to protect the passengers in a side-on
collision and reduces intrusions into the passenger cell as far as possible. Occupants are also
protected by optimally coordinated restraint systems such as seat belts and six airbags which
increase safety in virtually all accident scenarios. The head airbag system prevents occupants in all
seats from hitting the side windows or the object the car has collided with, and offers full-length
protection from shattered glass.
The three-point seat belt system on all seats (with additional integral pyrotechnical belt tensioners
and belt-force limiters on the front seats) provides optimum restraint in all types of accident. Plus, the
rollover sensor evaluates data supplied by the DSC system and, in the event of the car rolling over,
can trigger passive safety systems such as the head airbag system, belt tensioners and active
headrests. At the end of the day, driving pleasure is the only thing that should make your heart beat
faster in the BMW X6.
EVERYTHING IN VIEW –
INCLUDING THE ROAD.
The optional BMW Head-up Display for the BMW X6 makes
a major contribution to safety. A projection unit in the
instrument panel uses a TFT display to beam, in virtually all
light conditions, an easy-to-read, high-contrast image into
the driver’s field of vision. This allows you to read important
data from the image without taking your eyes off the road.
The height- and brightness-adjustable display, in which each
pixel consists of an individually managed transistor, produces
strong light and presents a wide range of information – from
current speed and information from the optional Speed
Limit Info to navigation arrows for your journey. Thus, you are
informed of the current status of the car without having to
shift your line of sight significantly.
The optional BMW Head-up Display projects relevant information, such as the car’s
speed, directly into the driver’s ﬁ eld of vision. The height- and brightness-adjustable
display ensures that the driver’s eyes remain focused on the road.

Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function. Optional, for added convenience and active safety in stop-and-go trafﬁ c. The
system measures the gap to the vehicle ahead on an ongoing basis and automatically maintains an appropriate distance. Once the
lane ahead becomes free, the system accelerates again up to the desired speed.
Park Distance Control, rear view camera and Top View. The optional Park Distance Control (PDC) uses optical and acoustic
signals to ensure comfortable and safe parking. Top View offers the driver an overview of their surroundings while manoeuvring
the vehicle, via a bird’s eye view of the BMW on the Control Display. In addition, the rear view camera provides a better view
when you’re reversing at under 񂢑 񂢙 km/h or parking.

BMW Connected App*. For the ﬁ rst time, you can now use apps in your BMW. With the Apps option, an iPhone and the free
BMW Connected App from the Apple App Store, you’re no longer limited to just listening to local radio, your calendar is with
you all the time and you’re always in contact with your friends. Using the iDrive system, you can easily select web radio stations

LARGESSE.
The BMW X6 is an extremely accommodating
vehicle. The only thing not welcome here is
limitation. The luggage compartment offers
570 litres of space (ActiveHybrid X6: 470 litres).
And the 60 : 40 split/folding rear seats expand
boot capacity to as much as 1,450 litres
(ActiveHybrid X6: 1,350). This makes the
BMW X6 open to any undertaking and allows
it to swallow up even bulky items of luggage or
sport equipment – e.g. up to four golf bags.
The practical luggage compartment cover can
even be stowed away in the boot ﬂ oor. And
there is an optional package that allows more
secure equipment storage. This is a coupé
whose generous space has been thought out
down to the last detail.
The ﬂ exible luggage compartment offers
570 litres of space. This capacity can be
increased further according to need.
The rear seat backrests can be split 60:40
to allow large or unwieldy items of luggage
to be stowed away easily.
Folding the rear seat backrests down fully
creates a virtually level luggage compartment
offering capacity of 1,450 litres.

Xenon headlights for high and low beam
incl. automatic headlight range control and
headlight washing system, for much better
illumination of the road ahead in bad weather,
at night or in poor visibility. The four light rings
offer a daytime driving light function, and can
also be used as parking lights.
 Adaptive headlights with variable light
distribution, incl. turning lights, optimally
illuminate bends by swivelling headlights as
soon as the driver turns the steering wheel.
The beam is also automatically adjusted
vertically when, for instance, driving over
crests or through hollows. The turning lights
in the fog lights are automatically activated
even at a standstill, when the indicator is used
or with a steering lock of over 10 degrees.
 High-beam assistant aids the driver at
night by automatically switching from high
to low beam.


Fog lights in free-form technology,
integrated in the front air dam, ensure extra
safety in poor visibility.

Headlight washing system provides
optimal illumination of the road ahead
in all weather conditions. Headlights are
automatically cleaned in parallel with
the windscreen when the lights are on.

Lights package includes rear reading lights,
rear footwell lights, indirectly lit door pockets,
exit lights and vicinity lighting in the outside
door handles (with comfort access option).
This ensures that the area around the door is
evenly lit when the door is unlocked, making
getting in and out easy and safe.

Dynamic Braking Lights make it easier for
drivers following from behind to see how hard
you are applying the brakes. If you are braking
normally, the brake lights cover a large area,
but only during emergency braking do the brake
lights start to flash. This allows following traffic
to distinguish between a slight tap on the
brakes and full braking – for even greater safety
on the road.

Rain sensor incl. automatic driving
lights control: once activated, the rain sensor
automatically switches on the windscreen
wipers and controls wiper frequency, depending
on how hard it is raining. This feature includes
automatic driving lights control, switching on
the low-beam headlights automatically, for
example, when it gets dark or when entering
a tunnel.

Exterior mirrors, electrically adjustable
and heated, finished in body colour (mirror
foot in black), in aspheric design and bluetinted.

distribution of power between the rear wheels
by Dynamic Performance Control.

Controller: various functions can be activated
from the Control Display using this rotary/push
button. Four menus can also be called up using
direct menu control buttons: CD, radio, navigation
and telephone. The other three buttons – Menu,
Option and Back – make for easier operation.

TV function allows you to use the Control
Display as a television when the vehicle is
stationary. Both analogue and digital (DVB-T)
channels broadcast by terrestrial stations
can be received.
 Apps*. Together with an iPhone and the
free BMW Connected App from the Apple App
Store, this optional equipment allows you to
tune in to international online radio stations via
the iDrive, or view your friends’ Facebook or
Twitter status updates on the Control Display.


Functional bookmarks: with these buttons,
the driver and passenger can save their most
frequently used navigation, audio (e.g. certain
radio stations or CD tracks) or telephone
functions on eight separate buttons for rapid
access.
Rear view camera with Top View clearly
shows the rear and side areas of the vehicle on
the Control Display. Interactive track lines
indicate, for example, whether the desired
parking space is large enough for the vehicle.
In addition, the image area of the tow bar is
enlarged. The rear view camera is automatically
activated when reverse gear is engaged
(standard on ActiveHybrid X6).
Control Display with TFT screen (6.5",
colour). Shows the functions activated by the
Controller (e.g. on-board computer or radio).
In conjunction with the optional Navigation
system Professional* or with the TV function,
the screen measures 8.8".

Side View provides a view of traffic when
pulling out of exits and junctions with restricted
visibility. Two cameras are integrated in the side of
the front bumper; images are shown on the
Control Display (not available for ActiveHybrid X6).

Hill Descent Control (HDC) enables your
BMW to take even steep downhill gradients
safely and automatically – without the need for
you to apply the brakes. With the speed control
with braking function, you can also change your
speed using the drop arm in the lower left area
of the cockpit.
Runflat indicator minimises the possible
repercussions of a tyre defect. Comparing
wheel rotation speed, the system determines
changes in air pressure in one or several tyres
and warns the driver via Check/Control.
 Tyre Pressure Control (TPC) uses sensors
to monitor air pressure in the tyres at any speed.
A slight loss in pressure is indicated by a light; a
significant loss in pressure additionally triggers
an acoustic warning (only on ActiveHybrid X6).


Hill-Start assistant stops the car rolling
downhill for 1.5 seconds once the footbrake is
released when making hill starts.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) incl.
DTC and enhanced functions for optimising
braking and driving stability. DSC detects any
risk of swerving and stabilises the car within
fractions of a second. The traction mode subfunction (DTC) enables increased wheel
slip, in order to perfectly adapt forward thrust
to every situation, for a more athletic drive.

Runflat tyres: reinforced sidewalls mean
that the tyres do not totally collapse without
pressurised air, so they cannot become
unseated from the rims. At a maximum of 80
km/h you can still travel up to 150 km.


Telescopic steering wheel with crash
element made of steel to improve driver
protection in case of a collision. In a crash, the
upper end of the steering column (spindle) is
retracted by 80 mm given a certain impact
force.
Brake Assistant provides brake
assistance by building up maximum brake
pressure in an emergency even if the driver
fails to properly depress the brake pedal,
significantly shortening the stopping distance
in the process.
The airbags and all further safety
components are perfectly coordinated in a
BMW. This means that, in a collision, only the
airbag actually required will be activated. Six
airbags offer targeted protection: driver and
front passenger airbags, head airbags as well
as side airbags at the front.

Body rigidity: the beam distribution and
node connections of the vehicle’s highly
functional body structure, and the strategic use
of high-rigidity materials, result in maximum
passive safety in front, lateral or rear collisions.
The rigid structure also makes an essential
contribution to the rewardingly dynamic drive.


Active headrests in the front move forward
to reduce the distance from the occupant’s
head in the event of a collision, thus limiting the
risk of possible injuries to the neck vertebrae.
The rollover sensor is linked up to the
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system for
better and faster recognition of dangerous
situations. Should an overturn occur, the
airbags and belt tensioners are immediately
triggered to ensure maximum passive safety.
 Bumpers: high-rigidity material in the bumper mounts mean that the body
structure can absorb impacts at up to 15 km/h without damage.

Trailer stability control automatically
recognises when a trailer being towed starts
to sway and applies the brakes to stabilise it,
lowering speed until the swaying stops (in
conjunction with trailer tow hitch).


Adaptive Headlights with variable light
distribution and vertical adjustment, incl.
turning lights with moveable headlight units for
optimum illumination of each upcoming bend
as soon as the driver turns the steering wheel.
The result is extra driving safety in the dark and
in poor visibility. The turning lights are
automatically activated even at a standstill,
when the indicator is used or with a steering
lock of over 10 degrees – up to 40 km/h.

