USER’S MANUAL
CAUTION

The lighting flash with arrowhead symbol,within an equilateral triangle,is
intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated ”dangerous voltage”
within the products enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to

The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the
user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (serviving)
instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.

CAUTIONS REGARDING HANDLING
Location
Install the player in a well-ventilated
location where it will not be exposed to
high temperatures or humidity.
Do not install the player in a location
which is exposed to direct sunlight, or
near stoves or radiators. Excessive heat
can adversely affect the cabinet and
internal components. Installation of the
player in a damp or dusty environment
may aiso result in a malfunction and
can be hazardous. Avoid installation
near cookers etc., where the player may
be exposed to oily smoke, steam or
heat.

Cleaning the Player
To clean the PLAYER wipe with a
polishing or a soft, dry cloth. For
stubborn dirt, moisten a soft cloth with a
weak solution of neutral detergent
(diluted in five to six parts water),
wringthe cloth well, and wipe away the
dirt. Use a dry cloth to wipe the surface
dry. Do not use volatile liquids such as
benzene or thinner which will damage
the unit.
Installation Guidelines
• Placing and using the compact disc
player for long periods on
heat-generating sources such as
amplifiers or near spotlights, etc. will
affect product performance. Avoid
placing the player on heatgenerating
sources.
• Install this compact disc player as far
as possible away from tuners and TV
sets. A compact disc player installed
in close proximity to such equipment
may cause noise or degradation of
the picture.
• Noise may be noticeable when an
indoor antenna is used. In such
cases, make use of an outdoor
antenna or turn off power to the
compact disc player.
• When the unit is used in a loud-sound
environment, e.g., near a speaker,
sound skip may occur. Install the unit
away from the speaker or reduce the
listening volume.
• Place this unit on a level surface and
CD Lens Cleaner
The player’s pickup lens should not
become dirty in normal use. If for some
reason, the lens becomes soiled and
malfunctions, contact your nearest
SOUNDSATION authorized service
center. Lens cleaners for CD players
are commercially available, but special
care should be exercised in their use as
some may cause damage to the lens.
Storing Discs
• Discs are made of the same kinds of
plastic used for conventional analog
audio records. Be careful not to allow
discs to warp. Always store discs in
their cases vertically, avoiding
locations with high heat, humidity, or

extremely low temperatures. Avoid
leaving discs in cars; the interior of a
car in direct sunlight can become
extremely hot.
• Always read and abide by the
precautionary notes listed on disc
labels.

anti-static agents on discs. Never
clean discs with benzene, thinner, or
other volatile solvents or damage to
the disc surface may result.
• With this player, use only those
discs which display the mark shown

• SACD hybrid discs cannot be
played.
Condensation
When this unit is brought into a warm
room from previously cold surroundings
or when the room temperature rises
sharply, condensation may form inside
the unit and impair its performance. In
such cases, allow the unit to stand for
about an hour or raise the room
temperature gradually.
• When holding discs, do not touch their
signal surfaces. Hold by the edges, or
by one edge and the center hole.
• Do not affix gummed labels or tape to
the disc surface. Also, do not scratch
or damage the label.
• Discs rotate at high speeds inside the
player. Do not use damaged, cracked
or warped discs.
Cleaning and Handling Compact
Discs
• The presence of fingerprints or
smudges on the surface of the disc
will not directly affect the recorded
signals, but, depending on the degree
of contamination, the brightness of the
light reflected from the signal surfaces
may be reduced causing degradation
of sound quality. Always keep your
discs clean by wiping them gently with
a soft cloth from the inner edge toward
the outer edge.
Do not play a CD with a special shape
Do not play a CD having other shape
than a circular disc, such as heart
shaped disc. Otherwise malfunction may
occur.
• If a disc becomes very dirty, dampen a
soft cloth with water, (be sure to wring
it out well) and wipe the away dirt

About discs created on computers
This unit can play the discs shown below.

Depending on the application settings and the
computer’s environmental settings, it may not
be possible to play certain discs. Record the
disc in a format supported on this unit. For
details, contact your application’s retailer.
If the recording quality is poor due to the disc’s
properties, scratches or dirt on the disc or dirt
on the recording lens, it may not be possible
to play the disc.

Creating backup discs
CD-RW
When CD-R/-RW discs are paused or left in
the pause mode at cue points for long periods
of time, it may become difficult to play the disc
at that point, due to the properties of the disc.
Also, when a specific point is looped
repeatedly an extremely large number of
times, it may become difficult to play that
point.
When playing valuable discs, we recommend
making backup discs.

Operation and performance of discs with
standards other than CD standards is not
guaranteed.

About 8 cm single CDs
8 cm single CDs cannot be played on the
CD400-USB. Do not mount 8 cm adapters on
CDs and play them on the CD400-USB. The
adapter could fall off as the disc spins,
damaging the disc or the player.
When there are many folders or files, some time may
be required for loading.

FUNCTIONS INTRODUCTION
1. POWER switch
Turn the machine on and off with this
button. The unit should always be shut
down with this button first before any
external power is removed. Typically it is
recommended that the CD player is
powered on before amplifiers and
powered off after amplifiers.
9. CD/USB/SD button
By pressing this button repeatedly, you
can select the playback source CD
drive/USB interface/SD card reader.
10. Rotary dial
As track selection function, choosing one
scale clockwise will play the next track
while selecting one scale
counterclockwise will play the last track,
when select the encoder, It will affect only
by pressing the encoder within 3
seconds, otherwise the previous
operation will be cancelled.
2. Power plug connector
Plug your supplied power cord in here.
3. AUDIO OUT connectors
Connect your CD player to your mixer
from this line level output.
4. FADER START connectors
When the accessory control cord is use
to connect it thru the corresponding relay
connector on a DJ mixer, the DJ mixer
can be used to control the CD player for
fader start play and back cue.
11. FOLDER button
Pressing this button, led lights will be on ,
rotary dial is the folder selection function,
selecting one scale clockwise will be the
next folder while selecting one scale
counterclockwise will be the last folder.
When select the encoder, it will affect by
pressing the encoder within 3 seconds,
otherwise the previous operation will be
cancelled.
5. CD drawer
Place your CDs you wish to play in here.
This unit is designed to play commercially
available CDs, MP3 CDs and properly
burned and finalized CD-Rs. Due to
variances on the specification of certain
CD burners and CDs, some homemade
CDs may not play properly. We
recommend burning CDs at the minimum
speed possible for the best performance.
12. PLAY / PAUSE button
Plays or pauses the track. (Note: When
paused, pressing PLAY will only set a
new cue point if the JOG WHEEL has
been moved.)
13. CUE button
During playback, pressing CUE will return
to the most recent point where playback
was started and will pause the track.
Holding down CUE will start playback
from this point, and releasing CUE will
cause it to return to that point and will
pause the track. Also, if the track is
paused, you can use the JOG WHEEL to
locate a new cue point.
6. Eject
Pressing will open or close the disc tray
on the transport.
7. SD card slot
For insertion of an SD card.
8. USB port
For connecting a USB storage medium.

14. Jog wheel
The jog wheel allows you to create
scratch effects, to fast-forward or rewind
within a track and to mokify the playback
speed.
If you have already pressed the
VINYL(16) button (button is lit up in blue),
you can create scratch effects in pause
and playback mode by moving the jog
wheel forwards and backwards. Turn the
jog wheel clockwise to fast-forward within
the track. Turn the jog wheel
anti-clockwise to rewind within the track.
The faster you turn the jog wheel, the
faster the track will skip
forwards/backwards.
If the MINYL button is not activated
(button is not lit up), you can use the jog
wheel in pause mode to fast-forward or
rewind the track. In playback mode you
can modify the playback speed. Rotate
the jog wheel clockwise to increase the
speed. Rotate the jog wheel
anti-clockwise to decrease the speed.

19. REPEAT button
Use this button to repeat one track or all
the track of the CD.
20. IN button
The device allows you to save
a"seamless" play loop. For this purpose,
the device has the buttons IN (20), OUT
(21) and RELOOP (22).
Use the IN button to program the starting
point of the play loop.
A detailed description of the LOOP
function can be found under "LOOP
function" in one of the following chapters
in this manual.
21. OUT button
The device allows you to save a
"seamless" play loop. For this purpose,
the device has the buttons IN (20), OUT
(21) and RELOOP (22).
Use the OUT button to program the end
point of the play loop or quit the play loop
by pressing it once again.
15. Display
The display shows the most important
settings and data to be played.
A detailed description of the "LOOP"
function can be found under "LOOP
function" in one of the
following chapters in this manual.
16. VINYL button
Press this button in order to activate the
scratch function of the jog wheel(14). The
button is lit up in blue.
22. RELOOP button
Use this button to play the saved play
loop.
17. BRAKE button
Press this button starts the track at a
speed that is slower than normal
playback. When you stop the track, the
track slows down before playback is
stopped completely.

function can be found under "LOOP
function" in one of the
following chapters in this manual.
18. REVERSE button
Press this button in order to play the

23. SINGLE/CONTINUE button
Use this button to switch the player
between individual SINGLE-track
playback and continuous (CONTINUE)
track playback.
For single track playback, the device
enters pause mode after each track
played.
For continuous playback, the device
enters pause mode only after playing all
tracks.
27. PITCH BEND- / + button
You can use these two pitch bend
buttons to temporarily adjust the pitch
and tempo of the music.
28. PITCH button
Activates or deactivates the PITCH
FADER. You can also hold down this
button and press the PITCH BEND -/+
buttons to adjust the range of the PITCH
FADER (±4%,8% and 16%). The current
range will be indicated on the LCD and by
different LED colors.
The playback mode is displayed (15).
29. LED pitch
It is used to indicate different Pitch range.
24. TIME button
This button switches between the display
options for the playing time:
Elapsed track time > remaining time of
CD > remaining track time
30. TAP button
Press this button in the rhythm of the
music.
The display (15) shows the beats per
minute (BPM).
With MP3 files, the total remaining
playing time of the CD is not displayed.
25. ◄◄ / ►► button
Constant press the search button, it will
start-up double-quick backwards or
forthcome function.
31. PROG button
You can program several tracks (20
tracks max.):
- Press the PROG button to enter in the
program mode.
- Use the skip track buttons to choose the
track you want to listen then press the
PROG buton to enter you choice.
- Use one more time the skip track
buttons to choose the track you want to
listen then press the PROG button to
enter you choice.
- Repeat the operation to select all the
track you want to listen.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start
the playback.
26. PITCH slide control
Use the PITCH slide control to change
the playback speed.
Slide the control down to increase the
playback speed of the track.
Slide the control up to decrease the
playback speed.
The percentage of the speed change is
displayed (15).
If the slide control is in centre position,
playback speed is unchanged.
The slide control only has an effect if the
pitch function has been activated using
the PITCH (28) button.

This unit supports USB mass storage class
USB devices (external
hard disks, portable flash memory devices,
digital audio players, etc.).

• Some USB devices may not operate
properly. Please note that SOUNDSATION
will accept no responsibility whatsoever for
loss of data recorded on USB devices.
• It may happen that, when a current above
the allowable level is detected in this unit’s
USB port, the [USB STOP] indicator
flashes, the power supply to the USB
device is cut off and communications with
the USB device are interrupted. To restore
normal operation, disconnect the USB
device from this unit. Avoid reusing USB
devices for which an excess current has
been detected. If normal operation is not
restored (if communications cannot be
established) after the above procedure is
performed, try turning off this unit’s power
then turning it back on.
• If multiple partitions are set for the USB
device, the device may not be recognized.
• USB devices equipped with flash card
readers may not operate.
• Depending on the USB device you are
using, the desired performance may not be
achieved.
When there are many folders or files, some time
may be required for loading.
Folders and files exceeding the limits cannot be
displayed.
USB devices that cannot be used
• Optical disk type devices such as external
DVD/ CD drives, etc., are not supported.
• USB hubs cannot be used.

About MP3 files
the search and super fast search functions
are slower with VBR files. If your priority is
operability, we recommend recording MP3
files in CBR.
MP3 files can have a constant bit rate (CBR)

files can be played on the CD400-USB, but
