Installing printers

This user manual shows you how to install the available printers within the university and how to
print documents.
At the end of this manual you will find an overview list of all available printers with their respective
locations (building and room number). This will allow you to find and install the closest printer.
Installing a printer
1) In the top menu bar, select the option ‘Go’. Select the option ‘Applications’.
2) In the next screen select the option ‘System Preferences’.

3) Select the option ‘Print & Scan’.
4) Click on the ‘+’ sign to add a printer.

5) This will open the ‘Add’ screen, displaying the list of available printers.
6) The next step is to select a printer.

7) Below the screen, under the ‘Use’ option, you have to enter a suitable ‘driver’ or ‘printer model’.
The suitable driver for Apple Mac is ‘Generic Postscript Printer’.

8) Click the ‘Add’ button.
9) The printer has now been added to the list.

10) When printing for the first time, you will be asked to enter your user name and password. By
checking the box ‘Remember this password in my keychain’ you can make sure that you will not be
asked for these details in future.
