Powering the CubeSat via USB
The FT232BM is configured as a bus-powered (i.e. USB-powered)
device on the Development Board and Flight Module. The USB
specification permits bus-powered devices to draw 100mA at +5V
from all USB hosts, and up to 500mA at +5V from powered hosts.
Therefore5 the CubeSat Kit can be powered from the USB port
alone. This is useful for development purposes, and also to
communicate with a fully assembled CubeSat Kit without having
to apply additional external power.

With proper configuration of the FT232BM configuration EEPROM. The
CubeSat Kit can draw a maximum of 500mA (at +5V) from the USB
interface. It is up to the CubeSat Kit user to control the CubeSat Kit's power
consumption when powered directly from the USB interface.
