The information elements themselves are identified by (1) visualizing how the software will be used and (2) looking at users requirements concerning the need for, and use of, information. Toward that end, you need to think of the tasks users will perform, the task scenarios, the task environment, users characteristics, their information needs, and how they will use each information element.
