Light emitting diodes, or LEDs, are tiny, solid-state units that harness a
semiconductor chip to convert electric energy into visible light.
Daktronics was one of the first major display companies to use LED
technology in scoreboards.

Compared to incandescent lighting, LEDs are more robust because
there is no fragile filament to break. LEDs save money by consuming
less power, operating on less than 10 percent of the power required for

The ECB approved ‘Premier Pitch’
consists of a combination of factory
formed underlays laid over a
consolidated hard porous base.
Over the prepared 50mm deep hard
porous base the ‘Premier Pad’ is laid out
in the area the ball will bounce during
play. The resin bonded fibre part of the
pad spreads to load over the base
formation, to reduce the differences in
compaction that may exist, and the foam
above increases the bounce of the ball.
AP10 Shockpad is fitted over this to
prevent the ball digging into the foam,
which could cause a slow loopy bounce,
and enhance the angle at which the ball
comes off the pitch. The synthetic turf
surface covers this to provide the
wear layer.

With performance being controlled
by man made components, the
influence of compaction and the effects
of climate change are limited. As a result
the Premier pitch provides a very high
level of consistency, making it excellent
for match and practice use by all age
groups and abilities.
Minimal Maintenance
The ‘Premier Pitch’ requires a
comparatively low, in relation to other
unbound base systems, level of
maintenance in order to keep the facility
in top condition. With performance not
being wholly dependent on base
consolidation pre-season rolling may be
all that is required to consolidate any
firmness that may have been lost during
the winter due to water or frost.

with bounce of half stump to stump high.

consolidated vegetation free soil area
with the following Rebound Bounce

Flexibility
Should ground circumstances change it
is comparatively easy and less costly,
compared to alternative systems, to
relocate the facility and reinstate the old
position.
Geotextile

The ‘Test Match’ system is an England
and Wales Cricket Board approved
system consisting of the tried and
tested combination of hard porous
aggregate over a consolidated
stone base.
To protect the base aggregates the
excavation is lined with a porous geotextile before laying the stone
foundation. In the playing area a second
geo-textile is included to separate the
stone and specially selected hard
porous layer. AP10 Shockpad is fitted
over the base, to protect the smooth
texture of the prepared hard porous
base, before the chosen surface is laid
and fixed.
This provides a pitch on which the
playing characteristics will alter with the
climate and the compaction in the base.
Rolling consolidates the aggregates,
increasing pace and bounce, and
watering will soften the base, to achieve
the opposite effect. Like grass the pitch
will be faster in summer than
early spring.
Pace & Bounce
The range is from medium to very fast
paced with bounce half stump to above
stump high.
• Rebound Bounce Parameters 12 - 25%.
Stump "Boxes"
To allow the use of conventional stumps
the stone and hard porous is removed to
a depth of 75-100mm. This depth
accommodates the point of a standard
stump without breaking the lining of the
base. Rather than a rigid timber frame
the area is lined with geo-textile before
being filled with clay soil. This stops the
soil mixing with the aggregates without
creating a hard edge under the surface.

The geo-textile lining the base of the
excavation prevents erosion and
contamination, particularly worm
infestation, of the system, and the
second layer between the two types of
aggregate prevents these from mixing in
the crucial playing areas. The AP10
Shockpad protects the hard porous
surface from being damaged during use,
particularly when the base is wet.
This eliminates the need to roll after
use during wet conditions, in order to
keep the surface smooth, and reduces
the risk of having to remove the surface
to attend directly to the hard porous.

A 12 volt leisure battery for use with all
Bola machines.
Bola stands
Bola stands accept any Bola machine with no modification required.
They enable the machine to be easily wheeled around without dismantling
and so maximises the time in use. They also address the Health & Safety issues
which arise from operating a bowling machine.
Bola stands offer the operator almost complete protection from the ball hit back by
the batsman and are a stable standing platform for safe operation.
If there is space to 'park' the machine and stand together this is a drastic saving in
set-up time and less potential for the machine to be damaged by mishandling.
