2.3.4.5 MANAGING USERS WITH CLASSES
A class is a collection or set of users that may share some properties. It is an optional feature that
may be used to simplify certain parts of the configuration of large systems.

Consider a system where a subset of users - let us call them "Officers" – have access to a number of
features - such as paging groups, dialing out over a trunk interface or high priority access to certain
users. If we were to add or remove users from this set of Officers, we would have to manually change
or update the permissions of each of these features - a process which may be error prone or easy to
forget. This may be simplified by creating an "Officer"-class, which holds all of the relevant users. This
class would be the only member which had access to the features in question, and the issue of
adding or removing users from having access to these features is now simply a case of adding or
removing users from this class.
By default, the system contains one predefined class, which holds all users.
