Before Use
Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all
its features and functions.

Ensure all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts
are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to
use this tool.
Operating Instructions
• Ensure the chain block is suspended from a structure capable of
supporting a load of at least 1½ x the safe working load of the block, and
that the Upper Hook (1) is fully engaged, with the Safety Bar (5) closed.

Attaching the load
• Attach slings/chains/ropes to Lower Hook (4). Do not use the chain as a
sling. This may cause damage to the chain. See diagram.
• Centre the load on the bottom hook correctly. See diagram.
• Never load the hook in front of the safety latch (A)
C
• Never load the hook tip (B)
• Never load the hook off the centre line (C)

Figure 2
• Never load the hook sideways (D)
• Ensure hook Safety Bar (5) is closed
Lifting
• Raise and lower in a smooth, controlled manner. DO NOT shock load
the chain block by allowing the attached load to fall freely, even for very
short distances.
• Smoothly pull Hand Chain (6) until Load Chain (3) is taut. Confirm that it
is vertical (i.e. not pulling at an angle).
• Start to raise load. Check that it is level with no possibility of the load
tilting and/or slipping from its restraints.
• If necessary lower the load and readjust slings to obtain a safe, level lift.
• Stop lifting at approximately 100mm to check that the brake will hold
the load.
• Continue to raise load to required height in a slow and controlled
manner. Do not raise so far that the load hook comes into contact with
the block.
• To lower the load, pull down on the opposite side of the chain. Again,
lower smoothly and slowly and do not lower so far as to completely
extend the full length of the load chain.
Maintenance & Storage
• Keep the chain block clean and regularly lubricate the load chain and
both hook shanks
• Carry out a visual inspection every time the chain block is used and
listen for any unusual sounds during operation.
• Store in a dry place.
• Never disassemble the chain block.
• Inspect the brake mechanism before every use.
