Step 5: once the cleat properly adjusted, confirm the tightening torque on the cleat fixing screws (5.5 and 6 Nm (between 4 and 4.5 lbf-ft)). WARNING: before riding on the road, be sure you know how and are familiar with the use of automatic pedals. Practice engaging and disengaging the pedals and cleats several times while at a standstill. Prepare yourself mentally to disengage your feet from the automatic pedals when stopping or during other situations that require putting your foot on the ground. Using the Adjustment Memory Positioner: To use the adjustment memory positionner, your shoes should be equipped with a central oblong bolt hole (see adjacent diagram). 34 Installing the Adjustment Memory pad: If your shoe is equipped with a central oblong bolt hole and bolt, remove the bolt. Position the cleats on the sole of your shoes. Fasten the cleat and install the Adjustment Memory Positonner without tightening it all the way. Do not insert the external pad until you have completed adjustment and tightened each cleat fixing bolt as well as the Adjustment Memory Positionner bolt. Insert the PAD from the exterior (see adjacent diagram). Replacing worn cleats using the Adjustment Memory Positionner: Unscrew the cleat fixing screws and remove the cleat without touching the Adjustment Memory Positionner screw. Position your new cleat and snap it into place on the Adjustment Memory Positionner, your cleat will automatically be positioned in the same position as previously defined. 35
