PREPARING FOR SAFE OPERATION
Operator preparation and training
Read the Operation & Safety Manual

Evaluate the terrain to determine what
accessories and attachments are needed to
properly and safely perform the job. Only use
accessories and attachments approved by the
manufacturer.

Clear the area to be aerated of objects such
as rocks, toys, wire or other debris that may be
picked up or thrown by the machine.
-
- Become familiar with
the safe operation of the
equipment, operator controls and safety signs.
Know how to stop the engine and attachments
quickly in an emergency. Do not operate or allow
another person to operate this machine if there
are any questions about safety.
Be sure the area is clear of pets and people,
especially young children. Never assume they
will remain where you last saw them. Stop the
machine if any enter the area.

Aerate only in daylight or in good artificial light.
-
All operators and mechanics should be trained.
The owner is responsible for training the users.
Machine preparation

Wear appropriate clothing, including long
trousers and safety goggles or safety glasses
with side shields when operating. Wear
substantial footwear. Do not operate barefoot or
wearing open sandals. Long hair, loose clothing
or jewelry may get tangled in moving parts.

If an operator or mechanic cannot read, it is
the owner's responsibility
to explain this material to
them. If any portion of this
material is unclear, contact
your factory representative
for clarification.
Never allow children, unskilled or improperly
trained people to operate this equipment. Local
regulations can restrict the age of the operator.
- Keep warning labels and this operator's manual
legible and intact. Replacement labels and
manuals are available from the factory
- Do not operate machinery while under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or any other condition
of impairment.

Site preparation and circumstances
The owner/user can prevent and is responsible
for accidents or injuries occurring to themselves,
other people or property.
-
Do not tamper with or defeat safety devices.
Keep guards, shields and interlock safety devices
in place and in proper working condition. They
are for your protection.

Keep all fasteners such as nuts, bolts and pins
well secured.
-
Visually inspect tines and tine bolts for wear or
damage. Replace worn or damaged tines and
bolts.
-
Verify that machine and attachments, if any, are
in good operating condition.
-
Do not engage lower machine until ready to aerate.

Slope Operation

Do not operate on slopes if uneasy or uncertain.
Ultimate responsibility for safe operation on
slopes rests with the operator.

Do not operate excessively steep slopes.

Keep all movement on the slopes slow and
gradual. Do not make sudden changes in speed
or direction.

Do not aerate near drop-offs, ditches or
embankments. The machine could suddenly turn
over if a wheel runs over the edge or an edge
caves in.
-
Do not turn on slopes unless necessary, and then
turn slowly and downhill when possible.
-
Maintain machine according to manufacturer's
schedule and instructions for maximum safety
and best results.
-
Park machine on level ground.
-
Never allow untrained personnel to service machine.
-
Replace parts if worn, damaged or faulty.
For best results, always replace with parts
recommended by the manufacturer.
-
Do not dismantle the machine without releasing
or restraining forces which may cause parts to
move suddenly.
-
Provide adequate support, e.g. jackstands for
lifted machine or parts if working beneath.
TINES
WARNING

Aerator tines are sharp and
can cut. Use extra caution
when handling. Remove obstructions with care. Wrap
the tines or wear gloves.

Only replace tines. Never
straighten or weld them.

Keep other persons away from tines.

TRANSPORTING/OPERATION

TRANSPORTING
This unit is not designed nor meant to be towed at speeds in excess of 10 MPH (16 Km/h).
Towing at excessive speeds will cause damage to frame and/or wheels. This type of damage will not
be repaired under the terms of the warranty.
1. Raise the aerating wheels high enough to hook the eye bolts 11, Figure 1 onto the latch hooks on the side
of the cradle assembly.
2. Lower the aerating wheels until the eye bolts are supporting the cradle assembly.
OPERATION
Before operating, check the area to be aerated and remove any objects which may present a safety
hazard or which may damage the aerator (rocks, cans, etc.).
Underground Utilities
Electrocution, Explosion, Service Disruption Risk
Before beginning any work check with the local authorities for underground utility location and depth.
Contacting buried utilities could result in a service outage.
Contacting buried electrical utilities could result in electrocution.
Contacting a buried gas line could result in an explosion.
Be certain utilities are deep enough before operating over them.
Do not leave the tractor unattended without first lowering the aerator and stopping the engine.
To prevent possible injury, do not operate aerator without weight trays in place. Do not make any
adjustments or perform any maintenance while tractor is running.
1. Position tractor and equipment where aerating is to begin.
2. Lower aerating wheels and proceed to aerate.
NOTE:
Never cross hard surfaces (sidewalks, driveways, stepping stones etc.) with the tines down.
To prevent turf damage, aerator must be raised completely out of the ground while turning the tractor.
Do Not back up when the tines are in the ground or damage to the tines and clamps may occur.
When aerating soft ground and full penetration is not desired, the depth may be controlled by raising the
cradle assembly with the hydraulic system.
Failure to lubricate the aerating wheels can cause damage to the axles, bushings and the wheels.

SERVICE

To improve penetration under hard soil conditions up to 45kg (100lbs) may be added to each weight
tray. DO NOT EXCEED 45kg (100lbs).
SERVICE
DO NOT use tractor hydraulics to support the aerator while servicing. Hydraulic lines may rupture
causing unit to fall suddenly.
When replacement parts are required, use genuine Shiller Grounds Care, Inc. parts or parts with
equivalent characteristics including type, strength and material. Failure to do so may result in
product malfunction and possible injury to the operator and/or bystanders.
Thoroughly clean all tines inside and out when aerating is completed. A light coat of oil will prevent rust and
insure proper coring and slicing the next time the unit is put into service.
Lubrication
The Renovaire has 18 grease fittings. There is one for each tine wheel (12) and one for each pivot shaft.
1. Grease every four (4) hours of operation with a lithium based grease.
2. Clean fittings before greasing.
3. Repack transport wheel bearings yearly using a good grade wheel bearing lubricant.

STORAGE

Storage Instructions
1. Thoroughly clean all tines, inside and out, after aerating is completed. A light coat of oil sprayed onto the
tines or blades will help prevent rust and ensure proper coring the next time the unit is put into service.
2. Unit should be stored on boards to protect tines or blades from rust and damage. Store in a dry location.
3. Lubrication before long storage periods will help prevent moisture build up in the lubrication cavities.
4. When bringing unit out of storage, check for loose bolts and damaged parts. Tighten and replace as
needed.
5. Check hydraulic cylinder for leaks and replace seal kit if needed. If the cylinder end cap has a
RETAINING RING, order item 25. If the cylinder cap has a LOCK WIRE, order item 30.
6. If the unit is equipped with a hydraulic hand pump, check the pump for leaks and proper fluid level.
Check the hydraulic hose connections for tightness and check the hose for any wear or damage. Refer to
the parts list on Page 14 to order replacement seal kits for the pump. The hydraulic hose can be obtained
by ordering item 10.
7. Proper storage and maintenance will extend the usage and performance of the unit.

Intended Use:
This machine is for aerating large grass areas of turf. It is intended to be towed behind a small
agricultural tractor. Weight up to 45kg (100lbs) per weight tray may be added to aid in penetration.
Exceeding the weight limit may damage the frame. It is not intended for use in rocky areas. The
machine may be towed in the transport position from site to site at a towing speed not to exceed
16km/hr (10 mph). Exceeding the tow speed may damage the frame.

Sobre una pendiente asegúrese que el

bruscamente de velocidad y de dirección.

necesario. En dicho caso gire despacio y de

Mantenga la máquina acorde al programa y a

Esta máquina no está diseñada para ser remolcada a más de 16 km/h.
Remolcarla a velocidad excesiva puede dañar el bastidor y/o las ruedas. Este tipo de daños no están
cubiertos por la garantía.
1. Suba las ruedas de aireado lo suficiente como para enganchar los pasadores de retención 11, Figura 1
en los enganches del bastidor.
2. Baje las ruedas de aireado hasta que los pasadores de retención queden sujetos en el bastidor.

Antes de trabajar, compruebe la zona que va a airear y quite cualquier objeto que pueda suponer un
peligro o que pueda dañar la aireadora (piedras, latas, etc.).

Riesgo de electrocución, explosión o interrupción de servicio
Antes de empezar a trabajar, compruebe con las autoridades locales la ubicación de las instalaciones
subterráneas y su profundidad. El contacto con instalaciones subterráneas podría resultar en una
interrupción del servicio.
El contacto con cables eléctricos subterráneos podría causar electrocución.
El contacto con una tubería de gas podría resultar en una explosión.
Asegúrese de que las instalaciones estén lo suficientemente hondas antes de trabajar por encima de
ellas.
No deje el tractor desatendido sin bajar primero la aireadora y apagar el motor.
Para evitar posibles heridas, no utilice la aireadora sin los contrapesos colocados. No realice ajustes
ni mantenimiento con el tractor en funcionamiento.
1. Coloque el tractor y el equipo donde vaya a comenzar a airear.
2. Baje las ruedas de aireado y comience a airear.
NOTA:
No cruce nunca superficies duras (aceras, caminos de entrada, escalones, etc.) con las púas bajadas.
Para evitar daños al césped, la aireadora debe levantarse por completo del suelo al girar el tractor.
No vaya marcha atrás cuando las púas estén en el suelo o de lo contrario se producirán daños en las púas y
las abrazaderas.
Cuando realice aireado en suelo blando y no desee una penetración completa de las púas, puede ajustar la
profundidad levantando la aireadora con el sistema hidráulico.
Si no lubrica las ruedas de aireado puede provocar daños a los ejes, los bujes y las ruedas.

Para mejorar la perforación en suelos duros, pueden añadirse hasta 45 kg en cada contrapeso. NO
coloque más de 45 kg.
REVISIONES
Advertencia
NO utilice el sistema hidráulico del tractor para aguantar la aireadora al realizar revisiones. Las
tuberías hidráulicas pueden romperse y hacer que la unidad caiga repentinamente al suelo.
Cuando necesite piezas de recambio, utilice piezas originales Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. o piezas
con características equivalentes del mismo tipo, resistencia y material. El no hacerlo puede provocar
un funcionamiento incorrecto y posibles daños para el operador y /o peatones.
Limpie a fondo todas las púas por dentro y por fuera cuando finalice el aireado. Impregnar una capa de
aceite evitará que se oxiden y asegurara una perforación correcta la próxima vez que se utilice la aireadora.
Lubricación
La aireadora Renovair tiene 18 puntos de lubricación. Hay uno para cada rueda de púas (12) y uno para cada
eje giratorio.
1. Lubrique cada cuatro (4) horas de funcionamiento con un lubricante con base de litio.
2. Limpie los puntos de lubricación antes de lubricar.
3. Lubrique los cojinetes de las ruedas de transporte una vez al año utilizando lubricante para cojinetes de
buena calidad.

1. Compruébelas diariamente.
2. Lubríquelas una vez al año.
3. Presión de aire:MÍNIMO 310,26 kPa.

ALMACENAMIENTO
Instrucciones de almacenamiento
1. Limpie a fondo todas las púas por dentro y por fuera cuando finalice el aireado. Impregnar una capa
fina de aceite en las púas o las cuchillas evitará que se oxiden y asegurara una perforación correcta la
próxima vez que se utilice la aireadora.
2. La unidad debe almacenarse sobre placas para evitar que se oxiden o se dañen las púas o las cuchillas.
Almacene la máquina en un lugar seco.
3. Lubricar la máquina antes de almacenarla para largos periodos evitará que se acumule la humedad en
los orificios de lubricación.
4. Cuando vuelva a utilizar la máquina, compruebe que no haya pernos sueltos ni piezas dañadas. Apriete
y cambie lo necesario.
5. Compruebe el cilindro hidráulico en busca de fugas y cambie la junta si es necesario. Si la tapa del
extremo del cilindro tiene una ANILLA DE RETENCIÓN, pida la pieza 25. Si la tapa del cilindro tiene un
CABLE DE FIJACIÓN, pida la pieza 30.
6. Si la unidad va equipada con una bomba hidráulica manual, compruebe la bomba en busca de fugas
y asegúrese de que tiene el nivel de líquido correcto. Compruebe que las conexiones de las tuberías
hidráulicas están apretadas y que no estén desgastadas o dañadas. Consulte la lista de piezas en la
página 14 para pedir juntas de recambio para la bomba. La tubería hidráulica puede obtenerse pidiendo
la pieza 10.
7. Un almacenamiento y mantenimiento corrector de la unidad prolongará su vida útil y aumentará su
rendimiento.
