Weather information
The National Weather Service report –with data extracted from the Rosario Aero weather
station time registers, interpolated into the time and place of the accident, and having
observed the synoptic surface weather charts of 12:00 and 15:00 hours– was the
following: wind 140° / 05 kts, visibility 15 km. No significant phenomena. Temperature:
20.5°C. Dew point temperature: 12.0°C. Pressure: 1021.9 hPa and relative humidity: 58%.
Medical and pathological information
The protocol of the pilot’s autopsy has been requested from the intervening Court, but
there has been no information in this regard; thus, it is not known whether in the exam any
toxic substance was detected that could have influenced his performance at the time of the
accident.
Moreover, no information is known indicating an illness prior to the flight, or any personal
situation that could have been negative as regards the pilot’s performance.
Fire
A fire broke out destroying the aircraft and causing significant damage to the engine and to
the propeller. The fire is supposed to have started due to the short circuit caused by the
aircraft touching two different phase wires.
Survival
The pilot died.
Further information
The rural Police Station at General Rojo, which has jurisdiction over the area of the
accident, acted in a professional way, protected the material and helped with the tasks
carried out.
WELL-DEFINED FACTS
The pilot held the certificates of PC 1ª A with instrument flight ratings and of Airspraying
Pilot.
His psycho-physiological capability certificate had expired.
The aircraft had no valid Airworthiness Certificate and its registration mark had been
cancelled.
There was no evidence indicating a technical failure in the engine.
When the cable was severed, the engine was delivering high power.
The propeller blades show the kind of damage that can only be produced when the engine
is operating.
The shearing kind of cut in the high-voltage cable can only be produced by the aircraft
propeller, with the engine on, and applied power.
The aircraft technical documents were not submitted.
It was impossible to establish whether the aircraft weight and balance was within the limits
established in the table of weight and balance.
Weather conditions had no influence on the accident.
