Pumps of the MY-MK series are horizontal radial impeller pumps in close coupled version with a single stage and normal priming behaviour. These pumps are suitable for the delivery of pure, aqueous liquids which do not contain abrasive or fibrous particles. Impellers without a cover disc at the front are called 'semi-open' or 'open impellers’. The oncoming flow to the impeller eye is in axial direction. The liquid is deflected by the radially arranged blades at a right angle and leaves the pump through the radial outlet nozzle. The term 'radial impeller' refers to the rectangular deflection of the liquid in the impeller. 3.4 Shaft sealing 3.4.1 Without shaft sealing, driven by a magnetic coupling Magnetic couplings are hermetically sealed sealing systems. 1 Impeller 2 Casing 3 Casing channel 4 Interrupter Fig. 4 Mode of operation of a peripheral impeller pump The impeller (1) of a peripheral impeller pump is designed as disc and has radial blades at the outer diameter, which are milled into the front and back side of the circumference. On both sides of the impeller blades, channels (3) are circularly arranged inside the casing, through which the medium flows. These circular channels (3) are interrupted between the casing inlet and outlet (4) to prevent an overflow from the discharge to the suction side. 1 Separating can 2 Pump shaft 3 Magnet on the internal rotor The hydraulic power is transmitted by momentum exchange between the impeller and the casing channel. Thus, relatively high pressures can be generated with small geometries. 4 Magnet on the external rotor 3.3.2 6 Pump casing MY radial impeller pumps 5 Motor shaft Fig. 6 Mode of operation of a magnetic coupling The pump shaft is driven by a magnetic coupling.
