Read through the instructions carefully. Keep the instructions in a safe place and pass them on to each subsequent user of the EPS. Target group These instructions are directed at competent personnel entrusted with the servicing, care, disposal and maintenance of fault free operation of an OPERTIS locking system and who have received suitable training for these activities or have appropriate experience. Dated 06/2014 4 OPERTIS 06/2014 EN eLOCK eXpress Operating instructions 2 EPS, Set for Comfort systems Product Description Scope of supply The scope of supply includes the following parts: Part Name External power supply EPS 1 Connection cable 2 Status LED 3 Battery compartment 3 Volt lithium battery CR-V3 Slot-head screwdriver 0.3x1.8 (Battery change Comfort system APS) Philips screwdriver PH (Battery change Comfort system Glass door) 06/2014 OPERTIS 5 EN eLOCK eXpress EPS, Set for Comfort systems Operating instructions Operating principle The external power supply (EPS) is used to supply power to Comfort systems with completely emptied batteries or of Comfort systems which, after several battery warnings, can no longer by actuated. The EPS is connected to the terminal to be opened from the outside using the interface cable supplied. Opening a terminal in an eLOCK eXpress locking system using the EPS requires a teached-in transponder with time profile "Always". The EPS provides the necessary power supply to open the Comfort system with empty battery once. Detailed Information Further information on the product is given in Section 8 "Product specification". 3 Intended Use Area of use The external power supply is designed for supplying power to electronic terminals with an empty battery in an OPERTIS eLOCK eXpress locking system. The following terminals can be opened with the EPS ES306.1005: ES316.100XX Comfort systems APS for panel door ES316.101XX Comfort systems APS for flush door ES316.1112E Comfort system for glass door Condition of the product The external power supply may only be used if it is in faultless technical condition. Independent modifications and changes to the product are not allowed. Ambient conditions Use in particularly difficult environments, e.g. aggressive gases, high humidity, extreme temperatures or very dusty environment is not allowed. If you have any questions, please contact OPERTIS Support. 6 OPERTIS 06/2014 EN eLOCK eXpress Operating instructions EPS, Set for Comfort systems Residual Risk If used as intended and in compliance with the maintenance instructions, this product will help to maintain your property security. However, the following residual risk cannot be excluded: In the event of a defect in the EPS or the interface cable, it is not possible to open the terminal if its battery is empty. 4 Safety Instructions The following safety instructions must be noted and followed before use! OPERTIS does not accept any liability whatsoever for personal injuries or damage to property caused by failure to follow these instructions! WARNING Risk of personal injuries The tip of the screwdriver supplied is sharp edged. There is a risk of cuts and stab wounds. CAUTION Risk of being locked in or out The battery can leak and damage the EPS, so that it can no longer provide power supply for the terminal. Remove the battery from the EPS after use. CAUTION Risk of being locked in or out If the battery in the terminal is empty, the door can only be opened using an EPS or mechanical tools (only the Comfort system for glass door). Make sure that a full battery is always available for the EPS, in order to ensure a power supply. 06/2014 OPERTIS 7 EN eLOCK eXpress EPS, Set for Comfort systems Operating instructions CAUTION Risk of malfunctions Unauthorised access With the Comfort system it is only possible to connect an external power supply from the outside (profile cylinder cover without Open button). In the Active Power Off state coupled lever handles remain coupled until an external power supply is connected properly. Therefore access is possible for all. The external power supply must be connected to the outside of the door. 5 Operation and Control Inserting the battery Note Note the details of the battery type given in the "Technical Data" section. Proceed as follows: Step Activity 1 Insert new, fully charged battery ensuring correct polarity. Figure Note The continuously lit green status LED signals that there is an intact battery in the EPS. The status LED does not provide any information about the battery's condition (charge level). 8 OPERTIS 06/2014 EN eLOCK eXpress Operating instructions EPS, Set for Comfort systems Connecting the interface cable Proceed as follows: 06/2014 Step Activity 1 Connect the round connector of the connection cable to the EPS. 2 Carefully lever off the profile cylinder cover on the outside, if necessary with the help of the screwdriver. 3 Plug the two pin connector of the connection cable into the bottom socket of the antenna. Figure OPERTIS 9 EN eLOCK eXpress EPS, Set for Comfort systems Operating instructions Providing the power supply / opening Proceed as follows: Step Activity 1 Hold the transponder with time profile "Always" in front of the antenna. 2 Comfort system APS Insert a new CR-V3 battery (OPERTIS product number ES0893) in the terminal, see separate instructions. Figure Comfort system glass door Insert a new CR2 battery (OPERTIS product number ES0891) in the terminal, see separate instructions. 3 10 OPERTIS Reset the date and time. Perform a closing action by holding an authorised transponder in front of the antenna. 06/2014 EN eLOCK eXpress Operating instructions 6 EPS, Set for Comfort systems Maintenance and Cleaning Maintenance and cleaning may only be carried out by qualified personnel. We do not provide any warranty whatsoever for damage caused by improper handling. Maintenance The external power supply (EPS) is maintenance free. Cleaning and Care CAUTION Risk of personal injuries Information is transferred from the external power supply (EPS) to the terminals via the EPS interface cable. Thick dirt or liquids such as water or oils can prevent communication, so that it is possible for people to be locked in or out. Check the interface cable for dirt regularly and clean if necessary. CAUTION Material damage due to incorrect cleaning Incorrect cleaning can cause attack and damage to the surfaces: Do not use alkali, acidic or chlorine-containing cleaning agents. Do not use cleaning agents containing abrasive additives. Do not use abrasive instruments, e.g. brushes. Proceed as follows: Step 1 06/2014 Activity Figure Wipe down the surfaces with a dry cloth. Send product back to OPERTIS or dispose of it at a communal collection point for hazardous electronic wastes. Batteries Do not dispose of batteries in the local household waste system, but instead at the public battery collection points. Do not throw batteries into a fire. Do not store used batteries together. Only dispose of batteries if they are discharged. Product packaging The product packaging must be disposed of through the local household or paper waste collection facility.
