Longer power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used: (1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the product; (2) the extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can unintentionally be pulled on or tripped over by children or pets. … POLARIZED PLUG If this appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other), please follow the below instructions: To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to fit the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug of the product or any extension cord being used with this product. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. This appliance is intended for Household Use Only. 1 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE. 2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. 3. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid. 4. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. 5. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. 6. Do not move the unit if it contains hot food or liquids. 7. Unplug the appliance from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the Chafing Dish to cool before putting on or taking off parts. 8. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Take the appliance to a qualified service dealer for examination and repairs. 9. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. 10. Never use a scouring pad to wipe the unit. 11. Do not use the unit outdoors. 12. Do not let the power cord hang over table or counter edges, or come in contact with hot surfaces. 13. Do not place on or near a hot gas electric burner, or in a heated oven. 14. Do not use the unit on unstable surfaces. Use only on a flat stable surface. 15. Do not use the unit other than for its intended use. 16. The cord to this appliance should only be plugged into a 120 V AC electrical wall outlet. 17. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids. 18. A person who has not read and understood all operating and safety instructions is not qualified to operate this appliance. All users of this appliance must read and understand the instruction manual before operating or cleaning this appliance. 19. If this appliance falls or accidentally becomes immersed in water, unplug it from the wall outlet immediately. Do not reach into the water! 20. When using this appliance, provide adequate air space above and on all sides for air circulation. Do not operate this appliance while it is touching or near curtains, wall covering, clothing, dishtowels or other flammable materials. 2 21. If this appliance begins to malfunction during use, turn the temperature control dial to OFF, and immediately unplug the power-supply cord. Do not use or attempt to repair the malfunctioning appliance. 22. The cord to this appliance should only be plugged into a 120 V AC electrical wall outlet. 23. Carefully unpack the Chafing Dish and remove all packaging and materials. Remove any label from the stainless steel surface. Set the Chafing Dish base on a dry, clean and flat surface. Place the Chafing Dish into the base; then add 2 cups water to the Chafing Dish Add the lid. Plug the cord into 120 V AC electrical outlets. Turn the temperature control dial to HIGH, Allow the Chafing Dish to heat 10 minutes. NOTE: When the Chafing Dish is heated for the first time, it may emit slight smoke or door. This is normal and should disappear. This will not affect the safety of the appliance. Using a protective oven mitt or potholder, grasp lid and set aside. Discard the water. Rinse and dry, add lid and store until ready for use. IMPORTANT: When setting the serving area, include an oven mitt or potholder to grasp the lid, a clear area to set the lid, and a long- handled utensil to serve food from the Chafing Dish. NOTE: Food placed in the Chafing Dish should already be cooked and hot. Keep the lid in place, remove only to serve. The Chafing Dish is designed to keep food warm only; it cannot be used to cook foods. WARNING: The Chafing Dish base is not designed to keep large, deep pots full of food or liquids warm. IMPORTANT: DO NOT IMMERSE THE SLOW COOKER BASE IN WATER. PLEASE NOTE: The initial 15 minutes of use may result in minimal smell and smoke. This is normal and harmless and comes from the protective substance applied to the heating elements during manufacturing. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 4 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Set the Chafing Dish base on a dry, clean and flat surface. Place the Chafing Dish into the Chafing Dish base. Add hot, cooked food to the Chafing Dish. Add the lid. -CAUTION: Do not fill the Chafing Dish more than ¾ full with food. Add a long- handled utensil next to the Chafing Dish for serving. Plug the power-supply cord into a 120 V AC electrical outlet. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired heating level: HIGH 158ᵒ F (70ᵒC) MED 140ᵒ F (60ᵒ C) LOW 122ᵒ F (50ᵒ C) Using an oven mitt or a potholder, grasp the lid and set it aside. Serve food from the Chafing Dish using a long- handled spoon or ladle. ALWAYS replace lid after serving. Turn the temperature control dial to OFF and remove plug from electrical outlet when not in use. Allow unit to cool completely before cleaning. NOTE: Foods containing little or no liquid should be stirred occasionally. CAUTION: To avoid dried-out or off flavors, do not leave food on the Chafing Dish base for extended periods of time or when not in fuse. IMPORTANT: Always use the Chafing Dish base handles to move the Chafing Dish. CARE & MAINTENANCE 5 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Always make sure the temperature control dial turned to OFF, the Chafing Dish is unplugged, and the Chafing Dish base is cool before attempting to clean. Using the handles, remove the Chafing Dish from the Chafing Dish base. Hand wash the stainless steel Chafing Dish and lid in warm, soapy water. -Dry with a soft cloth. -NOTE: The Chafing Dish is dishwater safe. Wipe the lid and exterior with a dry cloth. NOTE: The lid is dishwater safe. Wipe the Chafing Dish base with a damp cloth to remove superficial stains. Then shine with a dry cloth. For stubborn stains, partially fill the Chafing Dish with hot water and add to the Chafing Dish base. Plug the Chafing Dish into a 120 V AC electrical outlet, turn the temperature control dial to LOW, and allow to soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Use a wooden spoon to remove burnt particles. If necessary, use a nylon or plastic pad a small amount of any good stainless steel cleanser to clean difficult areas. IMPORTANT: Do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleansers. WARNING: NEVER IMMERSE THE CHAFING DISH BASE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID. Rinse well. Dry thoroughly, shine with a dry cloth. STORING INSTRUCTIONS - Turn the temperature control dial to OFF and remove plug from electrical outlet. Store the Chafing Dish, Chafing Dish lid, and base in its box or in a cool, dry place. Never store appliance while it is hot or still plugged in. Never wrap cord tightly around the appliance. Do not put any stress on the cord where it enters the unit, as it could cause the cord to fray and break. WARNING: NEVER SUBMERGE THE ENTIRE CHAFING DISH INTO WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID OR THIS MAY DAMAGE THE SLOW COOKER. LIMITED WARRANTY* ONE (1) YEAR: 6 Your small kitchen appliance is built with precision, inspected and tested before leaving our factory. It is warranted, to the original purchaser to be free from any manufacturing defects under normal use and conditions for one (1) years, cord excluded. During that period, should the appliance fail to operate properly, return the appliance with your sales receipt to the store where purchased. If you use your appliance for household use and according to instructions, it should give you years of satisfactory service. This product warranty covers only the original consumer purchaser of the product. WARRANTY IS ONLY VALID WITH A DATED PROOF OF PURCHASE. During the one-year warranty period, a product with a defect will be either repaired or replaced with a reconditioned comparable model (at our option) when the product is returned to our Service Center. (See the “Returns” section below). The repaired or replacement product will be in warranty for the remaining balance of the one-year warranty period and an additional onemonth period. This limited warranty covers appliances purchased and used within the 50 contiguous states plus the District of Columbia and does NOT cover: - Damages caused by unreasonable use, neglect, normal wear and tear, commercial use, improper assembly or installation of product. - Damages caused in shipping. - Damages caused by replacement or resetting of house fuses or circuit breakers. - Defects other than manufacturing defects. - Breakage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, alteration, lack of proper care and maintenance, or incorrect current or voltage. - Lost or missing parts of the product. Parts will need to be purchased separately. - Damages of parts that are not electrical; for example: cracked or broken plastic or glass. - Damage from service or repair by unauthorized personnel. - Extended warranties purchased via a separate company or reseller. - Consumer’s remorse is not an acceptable reason to return a product to our Service Center. *The consumer is responsible for any delivery charges for all replacement units provided for exchange under the warranty. RETURNS: Any return of defective merchandise to the manufacturer must be processed accordingly by contacting customer service first to obtain an RA # (Return Authorization Number). We will not accept any returns of merchandise without an applicable RA #. We cannot assume responsibility for loss or damages to products returned to us during incoming shipment. For your protection, always carefully package the product for shipment and insure it with the carrier. Be sure to enclose the following items with your return: any accessories related to the problem, your full address and daytime phone number, a note describing the problem, a copy of the dated sales receipt or other proof of purchase and a valid RA#. C.O.D shipments cannot be accepted. *One Year Limited Warranty valid only in the 50 contiguous states plus the District of Columbia, excluding Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. This warranty is effective only if the product is purchased and operated in the USA; product usage which is in violation of the written instructions provided with the unit will void this warranty.
