The table below will help you choose the appropriate flash mode: Flash mode Description The flash fires automatically to suit the photographic conditions. [ Blank] Automatic Flash This mode is only available when the camera is set to the [ ], [P], [ ] and [ ] mode. Use this mode to reduce the red-eye phenomenon when you want to capture natural- looking images of people and animals in low-light conditions. [ ] Red-eye Reduction When the camera mode is [ ], [P] and [M], the flash will fire to suit the brightness of the subject. When the camera mode is [Tv] and [Av], the flash will always fire. [ ] Pre-Flash [ ] Flash Off The “Pre-flash” mode allows you to brighten the subject prior to taken the final picture and firing the flash. Use this mode when capturing images using indoor lighting, for stages and indoor competitions, and when the subject is too far away for the flash to be effective. [ ] Forced Flash In this mode, the flash always fires. Use this mode for photographing under artificial light such as backlighting, fluorescent lighting, etc. EN-36
