2. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 82. 3. Remove the PCI card holder. See “Installing or replacing a PCI card” on page 84. 4. Remove the front fan assembly. See “Replacing the hard disk drive fan assembly” on page 100. 5. Remove any parts or disconnect any cables that might impede your access to the mini PCI express card slot on the system board. See “Locating parts on the system board” on page 76. 6. Depending on whether you are installing or replacing an mSATA solid-state drive, do one of the following: • If you are installing an mSATA solid-state drive, go to 7 on page 88. • If you are replacing an mSATA solid-state drive, press the two tabs 1 as shown and carefully pivot the mSATA solid-state drive upward at an angle of about 20 degrees. Then, remove the mSATA solid-state drive from the mini PCI express card slot. Figure 10. Removing an old mSATA solid-state drive 7. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new mSATA solid-state drive to any unpainted surface on the outside of the computer. Then, take the new mSATA solid-state drive out of the package. 8. Insert the new mSATA solid-state drive into the mini PCI express card slot at an angle of about 20 degrees until it clicks into position. Then, carefully pivot the mSATA solid-state drive downward until it snaps into position and is secured by the two tabs 1 . 88 ThinkStation D30 Hardware Maintenance Manual
