STORAGE 4. Operate the engine sufficiently to bring it up to normal operating temperature and allow fuel with Quicksilver Gasoline Stabilizer to circulate through the fuel system. Shut off engine. 5. Drain the engine. 6. Ensure that the sterndrive vent holes and water drain holes and passages are unobstructed and open (refer to Draining - Sterndrive). 7. For additional assurance against freezing and rust, after draining fill the cooling system with a mixture of propylene glycol and tap water mixed to manufacturer’s recommendation to protect engine to the lowest temperature to which it will be exposed during cold weather or extended storage. CAUTION Sterndrive should be stored in full DOWN position. Universal Joint bellows may develop a set if unit is stored in raised position and may fail when unit is returned to service. 8. Store boat with drive unit in full DOWN/IN position. 0236.01 FUEL SYSTEM 1. Prepare carbureted fuel system for extended storage as follows: a. Disconnect and plug fuel supply line. b. Start engine. c. Remove flame arrestor assembly. d. While operating engine at fast idle (1300 rpm), fog internal surfaces of induction system and combustion chambers by squirting approximately 227 g (8 oz) of Quicksilver Storage Seal or SAE 20W engine oil into carburetor bores. e. Squirt the remaining 57 g (2 oz.) of Storage Seal (or oil) rapidly into carburetor, just as the engine begins to stall, due to lack of fuel. Allow engine to stop. Description Where Used Part Number Carburetor 92-802878-56 Storage Seal Rust Inhibitor f. Turn ignition key to OFF position. g. Refer to Flushing Cooling System and appropriately remove water supply to the seawater pickup pump. 2. Clean flame arrestor and crankcase ventilation hoses and reinstall. 3.
