MOTOROLA
requestor
An external peripheral, an internal peripheral, or an internal
request generated by the DMA FIFO. A peripheral
interfaces with the DMA by placing a request for service.
The request can be external or internal, depending on its
origin.
reset
A means to bring a device and its components to a known
state by setting the registers and control bits to
predetermined values and signaling execution to start at a
specified address.
RFCR
Receive Function Code Register.
RFTHR
Received frames threshold parameter.
RIBC
Rx internal byte count.
RISC
Reduced instruction set computing.
RM
Resource management.
RMW
Read-modify-write.
RQNUM
Requestor number.
RS-232 with
modem
controls
An ANSI standard specifying three interfaces: electrical,
functional, and mechanical. The RS232 standard is typically
used to communicate between computers, terminals, and
modems. All PCs support RS-232, typically through a DB9
connector, as specified by ANSI. The MSC8102 supports
TXD, RXD, RTS, CTS, and CD signals.
RS-232 with
no modem
controls
The MSC8102 SMC1-2 interface supports TXD, RXD, and
SMSYN signals. The SMC interface does not support modem
control signals, and the data rates are not as fast as those of
the SCC interface.

Reset Configuration Registers (host-side).
RSR
Reset Status Register.
RSTATE
Receiver state.
RSTCONF
Reset configuration signal.
RSTRT
Receive start signal.
