The particular substitution made is governed by the polarity of the last inserted bit, as well as the number of pulses following the previous violation bit. If there is an odd number of pulses, 000V is substituted; the polarity of V is the same as that of the bit immediately preceding it. If there is an even number of pulses, B00V is inserted; the polarity of B is opposite to that of the bit immediately preceding it and the polarity of V is the same as that of B.
