Please read this brochure carefully to learn how
to obtain the maximum benefit from your SmartGuard
wax protection system. Following these guidelines
will optimize the SmartGuard system and will ensure
optimal performance from your hearing instrument.

Clean SmartGuard daily by simply wiping with a soft
cloth or tissue. Do not apply excessive pressure to the
tip of the hearing instrument.
Use a gentle back and forth wiping motion.
Never wipe with a rotating motion as this might
damage the SmartGuard.
Never use water to clean the SmartGuard.
Never use sharp objects or brushes to clean the
SmartGuard.

Cleaning your SmartGuard
Changing your SmartGuard
• For best results change your SmartGuard every
two months or as recommended by your hearing
care professional.
• Use only the supplied handling tool when changing
the SmartGuard.
• SmartGuards and handling tools are designed for
single use only. Please dispose after use.

Gently press the removal side of the tool into the
SmartGuard ring until you feel the tool snap in.
The SmartGuard ring will be attached to the tool
as you gently pull the tool back.
Keep the tool straight as you remove the
SmartGuard ring. This will help to maintain a
firm grip on the used SmartGuard ring.

Removal of the used SmartGuard
Insertion of a new SmartGuard
A new SmartGuard ring is already attached to the
replacement side of the handling tool.
Place the replacement side against the sound
outlet of the hearing instrument and press gently
until you feel the SmartGuard snap into place.
Gently pull the tool back.
The hearing instrument is now ready for use.

Operating conditions
SmartGuard has been designed for trouble-free
operation under all ordinary climatic conditions.
Transportation and storage conditions
Temperature should not exceed limits of
–20°/60°Celsius at a relative air humidity of 65%
for extended periods during transportation and
storage. Air pressure between 500 and 1100 hPa
is not detrimental to SmartGuard.
Not suitable for children under 3 years.
