408 Motoryacht • Owner’s Manual Chapter 11: Electrical System Battery Charger or Inverter/Charger (If Equipped) ! CAUTION! ENGINE & ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DAMAGE HAZARD! NEVER run the yacht’s engine and the battery charger at the same time. ! CAUTION • The battery charging systems (alternator and battery charger or inverter/battery charger) installed on your yacht are designed to charge conventional lead-acid batteries. • Before installing gel-cell or other new technology batteries, consult with the battery manufacturer about charging system requirements. • Read the VSR Charging Module Information Sheet. • Before using the battery charger or inverter/charger, read all instructions and warnings: (1) on the battery charger or inverter/charger, (2) on the battery, and (3) in the battery charger manual. • The battery charger will charge the boat’s battery whenever the boat is plugged into 110V/60Hz shore power and the "BATTERY CHARGER" AC circuit breaker is On. • The battery switches can be in any position during charging. • For the inverter/charger (if equipped) to charge the battery, the inverter must be turned On and the inverter battery switch must be turned On. • You may use DC powered electrical systems, such as the lights and stereo when the battery charger or inverter/ charger is charging, but there will be a corresponding drop in charger performance. 77
