1 Introduction 1.1 About the Tutor The Aircraft Recognition Tutor was developed as part of a Masters Thesis in Computer Science by CPT Larry W. Campbell. One of the major goals of the thesis was to demonstrate that, using existing technology in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, a useful computer training tool could be developed quickly and inexpensively. hi addition, this training tool would run on existing hardware in the field (U.S. Army ADA Battalions). Part of this goal has definately been met. The Aircraft Recognition Tutor was developed over a period of 3 months by a single individual. Whether the tutor is useful will be determined by you, the user. The requirement that the tutor run on existing hardware imposed some serious constraints on the development of the program. U.S. Army ADA Battalions currently have Zenith Z-248 computers with 640K RAM, 20MB Hard Disk, 4 / Aircraft Recognition Tutor 118
