5. The Differential tab defines the codes and rates for up to three levels of Shift
Differentials. A Shift Differential is a premium amount or factor paid in
addition to the employee's regular wage for certain hours worked during the
day. Shift Differentials work in conjunction with Shifts. The Differential tab
contains the following information:

Use Differential
Check this option to enable the shift
differentials.
Differential
There are nine differential codes available.
Type
Select the type of differential.
Addition. Select this option to add a specific
dollar amount to the employee’s regular
wage.
Multiplier. Select this option to multiply the
employee’s regular wage by a multiplication
factor.
Amount
Enter the amount of the differential. If the
type is Addition, enter the amount in dollars
and cents that should be paid above the
employee's regular wage for differential
hours (i.e. .30 for 30 cents per hour). If the
type is Multiplier, enter the percentage or
factor to multiply the employee's regular
wage for differential hours (i.e. 1.5 for time
and a half).

in Shift Maintenance. Clear this check box to
pay an employee a differential premium if
any part of the hours falls within the time
frame(s) in Shift Maintenance.
