APPENDIX F : Terminal Emulation Software User's Manual
SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION - What is TERM?
TERM is an executable program that may be run on any IBM Personal Computer (PC), PC/XT, PC/AT or close
compatible. Essentially, TERM simply converts the host computer into a dumb terminal (a keyboard and a display
screen). Utilizing one of the host computer’s RS232 COM ports, TERM will display characters received at the COM
port and will transmit characters that are typed on the keyboard to the COM port. Although there are some
enhancements (discussed in detail later), that is TERM’s primary function.
1.1 Equipment Requirements
As stated above, TERM will run on any IBM PC, PC/XT, PC/AT or close compatible running DOS 2.0 or later with
at least one COM port. At least one floppy drive is required. TERM requires approximately 100K bytes of available
RAM memory to run. Color displays are supported but not required.
