ADMINISTRATIVE FEATURES: NFM CLIENT COMPONENT The NFM package comes with a response file called Setup.iss. The values or “responses” contained in this file are the default values used during install (for example: the default install path/directory). If you want to use the default install values you will not have to modify the file. However, if you want to make a change, the file is text and you may change these values with any text editor. Automatically build the response file If you not comfortable or unfamiliar with changing values, InstallShield provides a “friendly” way to create the response file. From the new location start the command prompt and run: SETUP.exe /r /f1”C:\setup.iss” Where: /r – tells setup to record your answers /f1 – where to save the response file The NFM install GUI screen will now appear. Follow each step and screen to complete installation. ** This will install the software on this machine ** Once completed, you will have a response file which will be used to automate the install process. Step 2: Distributing the Software Regardless of which method you choose to distribute the software (CD, network copy, etc.) be sure the original package (NFMPackage.exe) and the response file (Setup.iss) are distributed to the target system. Step 3: Install the Software Package Once both files (NFMPackage.exe and Setup.iss) are on the target system, you can install the NFM package with the following command: Page 197 TPS®/Network File Manager (NFM) is the property of TPS® Systems, Inc.
